I hope people are buckled down for the long haul.
My kids don’t get it yet- but how could they?

When I was at the store last week, the chicken selection was drumsticks- period. Fortunately, I happen to like drums. Beef? Nothing but a few chuck roasts. I plan to go food shopping tomorrow, so I'll see what, if anything, has changed. 3 -
Because of the worsening virus situation here in Michigan I made a trip to Krogers today to see if I could fill a few holes in my food inventory. I went after the old folks hour and didn't expect them to have much. To my surprise the meat counter had more in it than it has had for a month. I am pretty well stocked but bought 3lbs of burger and a few pork chops since it may be a month before I'll want to venture out again. Chicken, beef and pork were all available. Flour and yeast that I went there for, not so much. I may be on the no carb only meat diet before this mess is done. Bob 0 -
About a yrs worth of venison in the freezer and maybe 3 months of chicken and 3 months of pork. Some beef but in T bones only . 3 -

The grocery store in our small town has not had any significant beef items for almost two weeks. They had chicken for one day and it was also just leg quarters.
Luckily there is a butcher shop a few towns over and they have been fairly well stocked.0 -
Not knowing the location of all of the members, it appears that the availability of meat selection is maybe regional?
The very few times I've ventured to the store, there has been an adequate selection of all varieties from inexpensive cuts to the best cuts. I stress adequate since the cases are not full to the top of the rails but have representative amounts of the cuts. If there was one thing missing this last time I went it was fresh fish which is not startling since I live in a desert region and fresh would require some expensive shipping. But in lieu of fresh there was a good selection of frozen from quality purveyors. Now I just have to pay attention to rotating stock from the freezers to the refrigerator.

Plenty of venison on the hoof in the back yard every night. 6 -
Here in Northern Utah, the only closed department in our supermarket is the seafood section. (And the eat-in part of the deli, of course.) Meat, Bakery, Dairy are stocked to near-normal levels. We go during Senior Hour, so they've had a chance to re-stock overnight, though. It might look a lot different at 3 pm. They do have Limit One or Two signs on a lot of shelves, but if I want a nice package of steak or a frozen turkey, or a dozen eggs, they are all there. Deli has fried chicken, mac or tater salad, all the trimmings. Plenty of cheese and daily baked bread. And beer! Unless you're bug-eyed panicky to hoard frozen pizza and toilet paper, you're fine. 0 -
Was in our Local Food Lion today. (Forgot my over the counter sleep meds last time in and i ran out, had a miserable night last night. 1 1/2-2 hrs sleep.)
I forgot to take a good look around, canned goods, meat dept, TP etc. Because i wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible. Bread aisle looked about fully stocked. I was surprised. Store was not crowded at all. People were respecting their 6' boundaries, and being cordial. It was encouraging.
Hit my Pharmacy for my Heart meds. Drive in only, "but we will gather items off the floor for you." I noticed a few days ago, their parking lot was coned closed. Knew what was up. A couple (as of a few days ago,) cases in our very small rural town in upper Extreme NE TN/W NC. Decent amount in our general vicinity.

Having venison meatballs with my spagetti tonight. Do you think they might let someone take a deer etc. out of season considering the situation?buddyb said:Plenty of venison on the hoof in the back yard every night.0 -

We have plenty of squirrel and a few ground hogs but I'm sure I'd have divorce papers the minute the lawyer's office opens if I harvested any of them. (and we live in town, so cops might have something to say about it, too, if I used a projectile type harvesting device) 0 -
