Riddle me this...
If they ARE NOT testing people who have no symptoms of Covid-19 due to shortages of tests how do they know there are people who have it and ARE asymptomatic?
I have time on my hands, a good dose of BS detector genes, and an overactive imagination.
Anyone?

There have been a number of documented positive cases of the Chinese virus on certain individuals and although positive, they show zero symptoms. Several of the same individuals later tested negative, meaning the individuals antibodies destroyed the virus.
Same with most every virus known to man, to include retroviruses. There are many out there who are HIV+ that never show any symptoms.0 -
Barzilla, I Think the effect of not being tested if you show no symptoms and not the cause is the riddle. We all know the virus likes to spread, and hides in some carriers.
serfIn an interview Thursday, Brett Giroir, a Public Health Service admiral who on March 12 was named the top administration official on the testing effort, acknowledged the government should have moved more decisively to detect and contain the virus.

Just a guess, but I'd assume they don't have 320 million test kits, or the ability to physically take the samples from everybody, nor the lab capacity to complete that many tests. 0 -

But they did let in citizens coming home from abroad with just a temp check , right? Which was stupid and should have been isolated. What did they do with T.B. patients back in 1930's.Get a clue.serf

My situation.
5 of us were in close proximity of an individual who tested positive, (at the dinner table and in various chairs while we watched a movie as a group), and then went full blown, and was put in an isolation hospital in Marsa Matruh Egypt, but has now recovered and finally made it out of Egypt and home to Canada.
We were all subsequently put in complete quarantine and after two days, swab tested. After a three day wait for results, We all came back negative. This was in the first few days of March. We continued our quarantine until 16- March.
I returned home on 18-March and have self quarantined since. Neither my Bride nor I have shown any symptoms nor have any other 4 guys that were in our Villa.
Baffling.

At one read, I hear how Virulent this is, and how easy to come down with. (Then) On the otherhand, I read of people, (including Families) that have isolated with an infected/tested positive member of the family. Only for no one else in the household/vicinity to acquire it. (?) It is baffling.

easier to criticize than get yer butt busy and make things work......and fewer layers of management and more layers of workers is a help for this 0 -
They don't have enough tests for everyone now but they probably had enough set aside for research. Establishing the course of the illness seems pretty important to know. Various institutes have probably been testing and tracking people who were exposed to the epidemic from the outset. The Chinese knew about it and were studying it last year.susie said:If they ARE NOT testing people who have no symptoms of Covid-19 due to shortages of tests how do they know there are people who have it and ARE asymptomatic?
