Passing the time, work in progress
4' x 4'. Daughter saw an abstract she liked when we visited the Momentary in January. I told her I could do one, half joking. She took me up on the offer.

If that apple on the table was your subject, you nailed it.

I get it, you are in a plane, flying over farm country, during a kite festival. 0 -
I'm just an old beatnik and would title your work: "Getting Out Of Squaresville"

I like it. What would you say was your inspiration for this piece? I mean aside from being holed up. Tell me more about what you have painted here.
Was there a particular life experience you were drawing on? These modes of expression are always fascinating to me.

The colors were at my daughters request. Purples, reds, and golds. I added the green with hints of blue to balance with her decor. She needed contrast to the blues in her home.
Never have I done an abstract so I needed structure, hence the blocking. As for the different shapes, I wanted large, small and varied. I decided for the different textures for the play of light.
I guess to place it in perspective I want structure, but live chaotic. 🤪

I'm very flattered. I last studied art history in the early 80's because I had to take one course in the pursuit of my degree in psychology.
