my son had one of those and for the most part it was a good rifle.  BUT we could never get it to shoot groups as well as i thought it should.  could not get better than 2 to 3 inch groups out of it, finally traded it.  just thought it should shoot better than that.

IME Ruger quality is all over the map. Some guns shoot great out of the box. Others make you wonder who fell asleep on their production line.

I've owned several 22WMR rifles over the years, various makes. Maybe I just had bad luck, but I never owned one that met my expectations for accuracy.

Rugers are good but I would look at the Marlin 782 and I think that would make you a nice rifle for a long tome.

Exactly. Owned a number of lever guns and none would shoot decent groups relative to 22LR. Bolt guns will group better but depend on choice of ammo. I have never seen a 22 WMRs shoot better than 1.5" at 100 yards. This includes match grade rifles.

Probably the biggest problem I have experienced with the 22mag is finding decent ammo your gun will shoot with and when if you do, the variance between batches is considerable.

IMHO, the 22 mag is a 75 yard gun. It does have a strong advantage over 22LR in killing animals as large as coyotes at close range.

I have 3 different 22mags and the Savage 93 is the best shooter out of my 3
