  I believe the regimental markings denote. 39th Infantry Regiment, Company number 7. I can't make out the numbers after the dot. But they would be the actual rifle number. Of Company number 7.
  
  Regimental markings, were used on German rifles and equipment. Until at least, he early years of the First World War.
