None of the above. In fact I hope we have learned a lesson and it strengthens American industry. I will admit at one time Japanese vehicles got a better rep for reliability but nowadays I don't think the difference exists. But some that complain are stubborn or cheap and keep buying from foreign owned companies. Bite the hand that feeds you and send all your manufacturing out of the country just so you can save a couple of bucks. If you do that you have no business bitching about the lack of jobs and an economy that is fragile. I bet a lot of people will go right back to picking Chinese crap over an identical U.S. Made product to save 50 cents when this health crisis is over. Bob 6 -
I'm not going to bash any of the ones you mentioned..But BIG Pharma..needs to go....Bring the makers of our meds etc back to the USA.. 6 -
I don't want any manufacturing capability lost.
Manufacturing was ran out of the USA because we had the most restrictive regulations, mandates, and punitive taxes and especially the punitive taxes and hostile business climate. Prior to Trump and GOP we has the highest corp taxes in the world: 39%.
Another problem plaguing manufacturing is the plaintiff favoring legal environment. Lawsuits alone are the reason many pharmaceuticals are no longer made in USA.
Trump and GOP reduced corp taxes to 20%. As a result, many corps are building plants here in USA again.

I do not recall bashing US industry. Executives and union leaders that make unrealistic deals then beg for, and receive tax payer funded bailouts received my ire along with the politicians that gave it to them. I am all for US industry, I want them to succeed making good products sold at fair free market prices. I also think a company that doesn't have the good sense to manage itself well enough to make a profit should be allowed to fail and should not receive my tax dollars as a reward for their own ineptness. 9 -

I agree with Chiefs, but the the 39 percent was just the federal tax. A lot of states tore into the bones that were left to the tune of an additional 15 to 20 percent.

Don't you remember it was the Demoncraps and the union big shots that smiled from ear to ear and rubbed their hands together while telling us all how great things would be after they gave away all of our manufacturing jobs to China! Remember it was good ol' BJ Bill that told us all how great the "service economy" was going to be. Just have to learn how to say "You want fries with that?" in Spanish and you'd be alright. The big shot union bosses told you all how great it would be buying cheap chineses crapola at Walfart and never mind the fact that you wouldn't have a job that paid more than minimum wage, unless of course you were a union boss or a chinese fundraiser for the Demoncrap party! 0 -

Yep, far too many believe when most of manufacturing left USA it would hurt the unions, but oh how wrong they were. Unions merely migrated into the government and service sector with help from the DEMOCRATs.As a result, just to have a plumber, electrician, appliance repairman etc show up at your door will cost you a HUNDRED dollars if you live in a city or state with majority DEMOCRATs and their unions. The first hundred is minor compared to the hourly rates.
Even worse, DEMOCRAT states pass law restricting or make it impossible for non union servicing business to operate.

Not trashing any industry in itself but the majority of labor union need to go. Many of their demands just are too much,, many major corporations moved offshore production just to get away from them.. they had a time they were much needed but now most unions protect the union and its leaders, not the workers

consider on the taxes on this end when i sold a piece of ground...now every year i paid property taxes on it and taxes on everything i bought for it and did on it...and NO, i was not knee deep in govt farm programs........so i sell it and the combined capital gain taxes on the sale are 19%.....govt never helped me in any way those years......ii could live for several years on those CG taxes alone now...took a lot of years to get in a position to buy ground with a minimal risk conservative plan....now it was sold at the peak price 6 years ago and still feel odd about selling after a struggle to buy 0 -

And it was Chocolate Jesus who told us all that no US jobs were going to return. He had zero ideas how to grow the US economy and helped drive manufacturing overseas.3 -

No it does not escape me. Washington is what you would call a DEMOCRAT state. This state is not a "right to work" state. My BIL worked at Great Lakes Steel in MI. He was offered a job in China at $200,000 per year for a period of two years. He would be helping to set up a steel mill in China because the US was GIVING China THREE MILLS. His job was "roller" for those who are aware of that term. Pressure was put on him to take the job, but he still refused 0 -
