What Dried Dog Food do you feed?
I am curious. (I know there are those here that espouse cook your own.) I understand that is the best option.
Just now purchased some Beneful "Grain Free," food. About $1.22/lb. $14.99 for 12.5 lbs. 24% Protein.
Diamond Naturals is rated 4 Stars. I usually get Chicken/brown rice. Only available, (where I live,) in 30 lb. Bags. For $33. A good deal, all in all. The Tractor Supply, 4 Health brand is also very good. Closest one to me, is about 40 mi. ea. way.
What do you recommend? Please share, dog owners.

Used to feed Pedigree but heard bad stuff. Switched to Beneful about 5 years ago. When I open a new bag, they start dancing. I guess they love the fresh smell. I let them stick their heads down in the bag and get a few bites. 0 -

I have started to look pretty hard at ingredients in my dogs food. If the #1 ingredient is Corn, (most of the dog foods on the market today.) It gets immediately rejected.
Diamond Naturals seems highly rated, (4 out of 5 stars,) for the money. Needed to suplement my dogs food, just in case. This Beneful "Grain free," seemed a good buy. 3 out of 4 stars.
Most popular dog foods, come in at 1.5 - 2.5 ratings. (Not recommended.) Read up on it guys. Not good.
Had a bag of Mossy Oak "Super Premium" dog food set aside at work to purchase, until researching it. 26% protein. Everything beyond that, a no go. (2.5 rating.) I owe it to my Buddy, to feed him some good food.

We’ve been feeding the pup this. Pretty costly. Will have to look Aaron day again and see if there’s a comparable brand that’s less expensive...

I have never seen, Victor brand. I have run across many brands that claim, "Premium Food." Ahh sorry, No. Not even close.
I have a couple brands I look for/purchase, beyond that I would recommend, researching what you feed your Best Friend. I have in depth, it is enlightening. Most is disheartening.

We use Kirkland and Diamond brand dry food. My Vet gave these a thumbs up.
Avoid the grain free foods. Dogs do need some grain in their diet.
I also avoid dog food with corn. The two brands mentioned above use rice and barley.

Diamond Natural's is a Premium food, (4 out of 5 stars.) 30 lbs, for about $33. Through our local Tri-State Agri-business.
Best I have found/lb. for a Premium 4 out of 5 review's, of best dried dog foods available.

If a dog looks healthy, is energetic , performs well, has stamina and lives a long life it is getting feed well. I've has working dogs most of my life and for years I, and my dogs, went hard. More than a few times I've had to rest dogs so the pads on their feet could heal up; they were worn down from hunting hard.
I've never feed anything that approaches the prices you guys are talking about and my dogs did all the above. Over a dollar a pound I wouldn't consider and two dollars a pound is better than me and my kids eat totaling average price of groceries.0 -
My experience is that you have to look at ALL of them. They change ingredients, all the time, in order to maximize profits. (Your Dog, be damned.) That apparently is the LAST equation to this dynamic.

Science Diet is another that used to be a great dog food but when I last checked ingredients, I was appalled by the changes they had made.
I'm surprised veterinarians still sell it.

Taste of the Wild is what we use. My wife researches all that crap and says this is the one.
Our Schnauzers had allergies and switching to this food fixed the problem.0 -

Taste of the Wild, is Tractor Supply premium brand. It is very good stuff. (Unfortunately,) 40 miles each direction.

Diamond Lamb and Rice. My Vet really keeps up on dog food recalls. Her top two choices were Victor and Diamond. She said Diamond was the best deal looking at quality/price. I have been feeding Diamond for around 15 years. My dogs coats SHINE!! 0 -

Diamond Natural's, seems to be the choice. Price/Lb. Best deal for the $$.
Chicken and Brown rice, is very Premium dog food. Can get all three through my Farm Supply Co.
Will add some to my supply.

Pedigree and Dog Chow...I've got nine dogs, they are all happy and healthy, many of them are seniors now. We have a hound we used to keep on grain free due to allergies and ear infections, but the vet said studies have show grain free may cause heart disease. 0 -

We used Old Roy until recently. We switched to Purina Dog Chow. A fifty lb. bag cost $23.00 . (Old Roy costs $20.00 fot 50 lbs.)

Our dogs breeder recommended Iams and we used it for some time. He did well on it. I started making homemade food for 1/4-1/3 of daily volume. Very basic meat, vegetables and fruit with a little brown rice. After looking at a variety of food rating websites I have settled on Orijen for dry food. Just switched to Senior mix for my eight year old. It is expensive, $52.00/13 lbs. He is a small/med. dog so his consumption is small. 0 -
I buy Purina One Lamb & Rice and mix it with fresh cooked chicken. Both my dogs do very well on this diet.
I have used Chewy for online order and delivery of my pet foods in the past. Thinking I'll be using them again during this time of shortages and direct shopping nightmares.3 -
my lab, waterfowl dog, was fed strictly Purina's PRO PLAN ADult lamb and rice in the offseason, and PP high protein during the season, with added cooked chicken.he thrived on it. weight control was easy, energy levels never fluctuated. one big benefit was the firmness of the stools. never a "snow cone" type. always easy to clean up, even when changing the basic feeds from hunting to resting. he lived 12 years, hunted 19..thats old for working labs 3 -
