Looks like a 742 Rem.

I looked up the 742 and it seems to be the same principle, but doesn't appear to be the same unit

maybe fit in the hole in the cap of an 870, would need nut to tighten it down.

Its for remington 760. Later ones where the fore end covered the barrel support tube when slide was pulled back. may be missing a spacer about 1/4 inch thick.
