In some respects I see and agree with the point he is making. If this "crisis" continues for much longer the country will be years away from getting the economy back to normal. If that happens then it will for sure open the door to liberal socialist policies becoming the new normal. This bailout is way overblown. Why are people on pensions, social security, and government assistance included in this handout? I said before that the only assistance should have been supporting the individual states unemployment insurance. That way only the people that could prove a loss would get the assistance. The other problem I have is with the loss of individual liberty trampled by the forced shut downs. Judy and I have been staying at home as much as possible for the last month, long before the government told us to. It was our choice and not a government plan forced on us. Warnings and guidelines should have been publicized and if someone is to stupid to heed them then it will weed out some of the stupid genes in our society. If a senior wants to return to work to leave a better economy for their descendants, they should have the freedom to do so. However I would hope they would distance themselves from their family to prevent passing on any disease they catch. Bob

Well The government forced me into social security for over 50 years. It's called an entitlement, do you own a car? Would you buy one without a title? This whole thing stinks of getting rid of old people from the beginning of this out break.I guess Italy has gotten the most benefit from having not to go insolvent with fiat money you think?

I bet you would not play Russian roulette, would you?Is that going to be legal now? The right to die/get out of the way for your family sake? This new age government mind set is evil and it will not be just be the old passing over to the other side before it's over with.Bet on it.

Coronavirus in Italy: The elderly are being left to die alone during crisis.

    https://nypost.com/2020/03/21/coronavirus-in-italy-the-elderly-are-being-left-to-die-alone-during-crisis/

In Italy, more than 4,000 people, the majority of them over 70, have died. Chinese medical experts aiding Italian doctors say the restrictions imposed by the government haven’t been enough to stem the rising tide of deaths.

Nurses said the situation in the Lombardy area is so dire that the dead are no longer even being counted. “We’re working in a state of very high stress and tension,” Daniela Confalonieri, a nurse in Milan told Reuters. “We can’t contain the situation, there’s a high level of contagion. It’s unimaginable.”

Some people put themselves in harm's way everyday. They do that to preserve society as we know it. Providing someone who goes back to work isolates themselves when not at work, I don't see much difference. First responders and even the grocery stockers are going to work every day and taking their chances for the rest of us. Why not seniors? Bob

They get sick faster and need more help when exposed and die faster. Your overtones is suggesting the law of the jungle. Now when it comes to bailing out airlines and cruise ship lines yeah they need to fail, and pay my measly S.S.benefits without 30 trillion in debt and hyperinflation with their funny monopoly money.

You miss my point by a mile. My point was like first responders who also get sick and die (reference the 2 Detroit police officers this week) it should be their choice. As far as your social security goes, I would be worried also if I depended on it to support me. If you have read any of my other comments on the bail out then you would realize we are probably not that far apart on our opinions. I still say the only thing the government should have done is bolster each States unemployment fund. If you lost your job last year that is all you would have gotten, so why is this any different?      The jobs coming back is not going to be like they are saying. I don't cruise and I don't eat out and I bet a lot people are going to join me in my habits. First responders are taking precautions with high levels of protection also nurses and doctors too and these groups should be given the most to turn the tide. Only a vaccine that works will make things considerably better.

If social security goes then all handouts and giveaways should too especially with big business and politicians salaries cut in half with no perks. This bottleneck on the other side is not going to be near like it was before in my opinion.
They are saying the Saudi Arabia Royal family is going to be deposed soon if oil stays at 30.00 a barrel. And the list of Chaos that could manifest is endless especially with central banks and derivatives.

So, you would hope they keep their distance from their family. How about other people that they can infect, like you and your wife?

Yes I am a senior. What would be different catching the virus from a senior than from the cashier at the supermarket or pharmacy? There is almost no way for the average person to totally shield themselves from any of the common viruses out there. Grocery stores, pharmacy, gas station ...  etc. You can order online but how do you know the delivery person isn't infecting your package. Amazon just discovered workers in 8 distribution centers have tested positive. The only thing we can do is try to minimize the risk in whatever situation we find ourselves in. Senior workers would probably take the precautions more serious than younger workers. If you don't believe that then you have missed all the examples of irresponsible younger people on the news lately. Bob
