Can you still purchase a firearm in California?
I am looking to purchase my 1st firearm for safety with all this Coronavirus stuff, but I am hearing that gun stores have closed due to the virus. I live on the OC are there any stores still open? Can you still get a background check done? Does anyone know of an open store?

Welcome to Gun Broker. There is a California specific firearms forum known as Calguns www.calguns.net/calgunforum which can give you up to the minute information on the status of firearms in the Golden State. 3 -
Oh awesome, thank you so much! 0 -
Don't be a stranger here with us, but CA has a...well, let's just say that CA is unique. A dedicated CA gun forum would probably serve your needs better than here, where all you are likely to hear is "Move, but not to my (red) state." 3 -
It is not enough to simply purchase a firearm for your safety, Benwia, you must also learn to use it correctly and safely.
Good luck in your search!3 -
I hope you are able to find what you need. Do you know what you are looking for? 0 -
Hi NeoBlackdog, I have gone through NRA gun safety training and shooting training and have my certificate of completion. Ready to purchase one for my home now

Hi Mr. Perfect, my brother recommended I get a Ruger SR22 0 -
You had all that training and the Ruger .22 seems the best choice for a house gun?? May I suggest a good pump shotgun if you can find one?? If there are women or older children who will be using the gun the Remington model 870 20 ga. youth model was a go to model I always kept in stock. Light, powerful, and not too much recoil. Good luck. 0 -
I think Ricci is on the right track with the 870 20 ga. youth.
Good luck!0
