Confused with Gunbroker "FFL on File" system ?

Not sure as a seller, but as a buyer the feature is very convenient. My last purchase was through a listed FFL, and I did not have to get up off my chair to handle the entire transaction. My understanding is that you only need to verify the validity of the license in order to ship. As a seller can you not go to the FFL list and view the license? 0 -
A buyer must do the following:
1) contact that local dealer & see if he is ready, willing & able to transfer that particular gun to you.2) determine his days & hours open, & what he will charge for the transfer.3) ask if he will give you a photo copy of his 01 FFL to send to your seller, or if he will email a photo copy of his license to your seller. (He may previously have sent a copy of his license to your seller, in which case you can skip this step.)4) pay your seller & make sure that he has your local dealer's license.A seller is generally going to wait for:1) receipt of payment2) receipt of a photo copy of the receiving dealer's 01 FFL, either hard copy or as email attachment.Not all sellers want to get involved with GB's system.

Below is the paragraph from the buyers side of the GB 'Find and FFL Near You' section:The FFL on file icon indicates that this FFL holder has uploaded a copy of their license into the GunBroker.com network. Selecting one of these FFL holders will automatically email the seller a link to the license GunBroker has on file. The seller will still be responsible for verifying the license before shipping the product to the FFL. You should reach out to the FFL and inform them that you have selected them and give them the information on the item you have purchase so they can prepare the transfer for you.
If you select an FFL without the FFL on file icon you will need to contact the FFL with the seller’s information returned in your won email notification, so the FFL can reach out to the seller and begin the transfer process.From this, it looks like the buyer needs to initiate the process by selecting the FFL holder, and the GB system will then email the seller. In my most recent purchase, this is what I did. The seller must have received the email, as the pistol was shipped that same day.
So, in answer to the OP question, he will have to have the buyer select an FFL from the list of FFL holders with an FFL on file (as very simple process) which will then trigger the GB system to send the link through the seller.

And sir you will not get a copy of a FFL off the internet unless the holder sends you one and that is very unlikely. Those that are doing it may see trouble in the future. FFL copies should go from FFL to FFL holder.
They are not public info.Last ATF agent that did my audit said not to post the license in such a way that the public can see the complete number. Go figure.

There are 3 FFLs I and other use here. We inform our FFL we made a GB purchase and pass on the email address of the seller.
Our FFL dealers email or fax their FFL to the seller independent of GB. Works great for us.0 -

Actually, It's a rare dealer that will actually let you touch an actual copy of his FFL or his actual FFL.
I'm amazed at the number of FFL dealers that apparently do not read the ATF rules.
This applies to a large percentage of C&R, type 03 FFL holders.

My former ffl dealer, since passed, was not tech savvy. He would make a copy of his license for me to send with my payment. I was never comfortable with that, but he trusted me.
The ffl dealer I use now is up to speed with GB’s system.

martind18 it seems most of the replies don't understand your question and that you are the seller or they are just not familiar with the seller side since they keep answering that it is the buyers responsibility... Anyways I believe the reason you may not have received the FFL from GB yet is because your buyer may not have followed the instructions they received after winning your auction they should have received an email from GB, the email says to the seller that their order needs to be confirmed and includes this "You need to view and confirm the order by going to My GunBroker > Checkout > Won Orders."
I did this on a very recent purchase and after confirming, I got a pretty quick reply from the seller saying he got the FFL info needed from GB (since I chose an FFL that was registered with GB and was close to me) he stated I did not need to send anything except payment.
I think either your buyer chose a FFL that is not registered with GB or hasn't confirmed the order... just my thoughts on how it worked on my last purchase.

If you are a seller, when the buyer chooses an FFL from the Gun Broker system it sends out TWO different types of emails. There is a short worded message with a link to the actual copy of the license if they have chosen a dealer with a copy of the FFL uploaded to Gun Broker. The other email is something that goes to you and the FFL they have chosen showing what dealer has been picked and asks the dealer to send a copy of their FFL to you.
What might be happening is your spam might be getting your emails from Gun Broker if you are not seeing this. If you aren't getting any emails about FFLs your buyers are not picking dealers from the GB system.
The easiest way to check on if your buyer's FFL is on file with Gun Broker is to go to your "SOLD ORDERS" page......if you scroll through your sold items you will see off to the right there will be a link to view the FFL if it is available.
