Any ideas as to why this is happening?  Please & thank you.

The nipple on the mag follower is preventing the loading gate hinge from moving upwards. Hope this helps.

That does not help, because I said that's what was happening. I guess I wasn't specific enough...

Is that *supposed* to be happening, and if not, how do I correct the issue. If that *is* supposed to be happening, then what am I doing incorrectly that's preventing me from cycling the action?

Without a hands on inspection it sounds like your magazine follower is worn out. If it is the typical plastic original the edges wear causing it to protrude farther from the magazine than normal. When that happens it can jam the lifter which I believe you are calling a loading gate. Easy fix to replace and numerous places carry them. Bob

Did you take it apart and put it back together wrong?  Sorry I can't follow your description - sort of widget on the manaform dohicky is twisted.

The easy way is ask one of your knowledgeable gun friends or a gunsmith to look at it, and perhaps fix it for you.

Interesting vid to compare your parts.

No, I didn't disassemble (see, I know that word!) the shotgun.  Just pulled it out of storage with the rest of the weapons I may or may not own (who knows?) to make sure everything was in proper working order.  Thanks for those links, I'll take a look!

Thanks, I will!  I made the mistake of ordering the follower from the website mentioned above in the video.  The cheapest shipping option (which I felt still was moderately overpriced) was 4-6 weeks for delivery.  Of course, I didn't know THAT until after purchase and shipping selection.  Oh well, look for an update in a little over a month, at best! :o:#

well at least ya don't have to go through a background check, fill out NICS form 4473, produce a current photo ID, produce 3 sets of finger prints, and notify the County Sheriff of your intentions (all said in green font) best of luck. Keep yer head down, ammo dry and wash yer hands

OK, likemhot, you win the Gold Star! B)<3

Much to my surprise, the bright green follower from S&J Hardware arrived today, and it fixed the problem!  I truly appreciate your advice and the video, you saved me a trip to the gunsmith and few bucks!
