Ever regret selling a particular gun?

i sold a uberti factory engraved Henry clone in 44-40 to a friend for what i gave for it...never could get warm and fuzzy with that caliber....never shot it....now i could have got much more... 0 -

Have only sold a few over the years. Other than a couple of ARs, I sold items I did not enjoy shooting, or, in the case of a CC piece, was not comfortable with.
No regrets.

A Dirty Harry S&W M29 in a presentation box and a never fired Colt 1911 Government. What was I thinking. 0 -
When I went through my first divorce in Alaska and became a single parent I sold a Smith Corona 1903A3. That rifle got me my Expert card with battle sights. It was an amazingly accurate rifle that ate thousands of rounds of 30-06 loaded with the 174 grain Government match bullets pushed by 46 grains of IMR 4895. I regret selling that rifle to this day but needed to feed my kids, in the end it was a good choice. 0 -
A like new in box Glock 31 357 Sig. My brother in law bought it at a flea market for $365. He offered it to me for the same. I sold it back to him for the same about a year later. Wish now I’d kept it. 0 -
very sadly yes too many along with several + cars especially when younger but when cash flow stops something had to give and it was always my hobbies that had to go to paying bills and eating come first ,
I try to not think of it but when you see one like you had bringing in a nice chunk of change ..0 -

Hated doing it, but had to sell both my 16 gauge. An A5 and Husqvarna Mod 20. Looking to replace both with one gun. Either a Darne Halifax or Husqvarna Mod 51 in 16 gauge. 0 -
Many Many times........However, I try to never look back on a good profit.
I'm a collector. I'm always wheeling and dealing guns. Sometimes I get things in a package deal I can turn quickly and make my some/most/all my cash back. And some times I move them too damn fast!

Oh my there was the model 1908 Mon dragon semiautomatic rifle / squad automatic weapon with integral high capacity oversized drum magazine...
Had the transit chest and matching bayonet with scabbard - spare magazine and bipod and tool wrap and barrel swap gloves - standard configuration magazines with normal architecture

Back in the day, trading was very popular. I can't count the items I HAD that I traded away but got a lot of stuff to try that I would not have.

I have a Mint Pre War Model 42 Skeet, English Stock, Solid Rib my Dad bought in the mid 60's from a coworker(Ron) he never really ever got along with for $40.00.
It went something like:
My BIL wants sell a Winchester 410 pump for $40.00. I told him you might be interested. It's in my car."
My Dad said, sure. I'll take it sight unseen. Handed him $40.00 and they walked out to the car and put it in my Dads trunk without even looking at it.
Later, my Dad had to go see it, and couldn't believe it was a Mint Skeet model! He was considering giving Ron more money.
BUT!
Later that afternoon, people kept coming up to my Dad saying how bad Ron screwed him. Ron was bragging to anyone who would listen. His BIL only wanted $25.00 for it! And he screwed Ed out of $15.00!
After 5-6 people and Ron himself taunted my old Man, he wrote the information down and said here. Call Bells(Local LGS) and ask IF they can get a 42 Skeet Model, how much?
Then Ron screamed, "You screwed me!"
And..........I still have that gun 50+ years later!!3 -
Traded the first gun I ever bought for myself. A Savage 24 .22mag over a 20ga. For a 1952 Winchester 94 in .30 .30 (beautifull wood) was working evening shift unloading farmers tobacco trucks around 1978-79. I needed a deer rifle and Pug needed a squirrel gun. Still have the 94, but would love to have that 1st gun back.
Select-fire turned me on to a really nice Savage 24V .30 .30 over a 20ga that I grabbed a couple years back to scratch that itch. Put a Simmons Pro diamond reticle shotgun scope on it. Nice gun. Liked the scope so much for fast aquisition and value for the $$ that I put one on my Ruger .44mag Carbine.

I had a wonderful full size
I had a fully functional gem mint all matching Merwin & Bray .42 Caliber Cup Fire Revolver that was museum quality (there were many members here who were shocked and appalled when I fired off 18 original rounds of the cup fire loaded live vintage ammo through such a pristine Rollin White patent infringement work around alternative to the bored through cylinder for use with the one piece self contained center primed metallic pm cartridge. - possibly some blow in residing in the formerly derelict paper mill town of my youth Lowell Massachusetts.
Teak may have wept.
And a remarkable delightful switch barrel Merwin Hulbert DA .38 S&W nickel plated duel purpose pocket revolver (one near snub nose and one longer parlor grade target) I had posted two for record vintage police department regulation bull's-eye targets at 12 yards.
I made a show of removing and re afixing each barrel assembly in turn - familiarizing myself with the feel of the fitment and showing any enraptured spectators how simple the procedure is with a frugality of motions in the exercises count...
I have a special bespoke vintage replica box of ammo set aside - virgin .38 S&W empty nickel plated cases with a mild powder load topped off with a copper coated double end target wadcutters
With the boy scouts and weblos and the girl scouts and Mennonite gals and valley forge military academy cadets and some foster kids and some equestrian gals and assorted adults looked on I ran through the range commands and slow fired from both barrel groups...
There were a few adults who questioned my use of double end soft lead copper coated ammo through both rolling block carbines and post Civil War center fire revolvers.
One of the non descript generic men in the audience turned out to be "Merwin" by progeny and marriage...
They had bought back the family house and gunshop and ranch / range facility and production building...
They were buying back guns in any condition.they intend to. Produce them again...
And he managed to finagle me into selling all 5 of my Merwin's back to him...

.380 Browning made in Belgium under German occupation...Military holster and extra mag...appeared unfired...Paid $90 bucks for it (from the Vet that brought it back from WWII... Great shooter! Sold it for $150 and was feeling pretty good about it until my wife bought me a book "Handguns Of The World" Nice picture of the same weapon in 9mm... Article stated they have not been able to find a .380 version for a photograph...Got hold of the the guy I sold it to but...He had traded it for a set of tires!...

Once upon a time I got on a 1911 kick,, I purchased one of the very first Dan Wesson 1911 ever produced .. single digit serial number with exp behind it for experimental. I think it was 003exp . Never fired it.. I have about 20 1911’s and live down the road from Wilson Combat here in Arkansas so I have 3 of them and just never got it out,, Somebody offered me over 3x what I paid for it and I let it go,, regretted it ever since.

A little over 20 years ago, my wife was diagnosed with cancer. Some dark days then, young children, lousy insurance coverage and a stack of bills about a month before Christmas.....
Easiest sale for me were several firearms to keep the wolves away from the door and make sure Christmas was as normal as possible......
20+ years later, she is healthy...the children are all grown up and I have purchased similar firearms to some of the ones I sold and actually was able to buy back an early S&W 66-1 2.5"....it took me 10 years to get that one back....
I actually found the Forum during those dark days.....been here ever since....3 -
2 Detonics Combat Masters and 2 Star PDs...........long story.....but hell yes I regret those................SAR-8 and Norinco Mak 90 also......haven't replaced any of those 0 -
Sold a set of 3 Winchester Model 24 shot guns 12. 16.20 gauges. was out of work an had back surgery need to feed kid. Now see the prices an just shake my head. But the kid is big an healthy working on his own. Dam proud of him 0
