Grocery Stores With Senior Shopping Hours...

Looks like Walmart, Target and the Dollar Store are among several other stores that are going to have senior shopping hours. Looks like most of them are for an hour or two early in the mornings.

Albertsons: Stores are open from 7 to 9 .am. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors and at-risk customers to shop.
Dollar General: The first hour of operation is reserved for seniors. Call your local store to find out opening times.
Food Town: Anyone 65 and older can shop from 7 to 8 a.m.
Fresh Market: Anyone 65 and older can shop from 7 to 8 a.m.
Gelson's: Anyone 65 and older can shop from 7 to 8 a.m.
Morton Williams: Stores are open from 7 to 8 a.m. for "senior hour."
Pavilions: Stores are open from 7 to 9 .am. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors and at-risk customers to shop.
Publix: Anyone 65 and older can shop on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8 a.m.
Safeway: Stores are open from 7 to 9 .am. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors and at-risk customers to shop.
Stop & Shop: Anyone 60 and older can shop from 6 to 7:30 a.m.
Target: Stores are reserving an hour on Wednesdays for "vulnerable shoppers." Call your local store to find out exact hours.
Trader Joe's: Select stores will open early for seniors and at-risk customers. Call your local store to find out exact hours.
Vons: Stores are open from 7 to 9 .am. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors and at-risk customers to shop.
Walmart: From now through April 28, stores open one hour early on Tuesday for 60 and older to shop.
Whole Foods Market: Stores open one hour early for 60 and older to shop. Call your local store for exact hours.

    Even those times are crazy.  Friend told me he was at one of the local grocery stores at 6 am for the senior hours and even at that time the store was full and there was no shopping carts.

    Not  a problem with no shopping carts, just bring a little red wagon you use at the car swap meets .

    Brilliant idea...that's helping your higher risk community.  I was contacted by the Kroger manager yesterday requesting an officer in the lot during the open and close due to customers becoming more aggressive with staff and each other.  The tension is rising.

    Seems like a good idea.  Last time I was in the store there were so many ignorant zombies stumbling around, not looking where they were going, rudely jumping in front of people, acting like they were the only ones in the store and generally just being ignorant *holes, I wanted to 'pile-driver' about 75% of them!  Concern and preparedness is one thing, but acting like an ignorant jack* is altogether different!
    Felt genuinely bad for more than a few elderly who were trying to navigate that stupidity. Saw one elderly gentleman sort bend over/kneel down to get something off a low shelve and sort of lost his balance and tilted over.  This other Millennial-ish jackwagon, rather than help the poor gentleman to his feet, just reached over the top of him to snatch something off of a higher shelf and walked off!!  ME ME ME (and ONLY ME!) is the attitude of late.  Another person came to his aide before I could get there, but that kind of behavior is just inexcusable.
    You and I were twins that day! Same idiots and same mistreatment of some older shoppers.

    One of the idiots (me, me, me) almost knocked an older shopper off her feet but just kept moving. I was close enough I lent her my arm to help get her stabilized then asked if I could tag along while she and her even older husband shopped. We chatted while finishing their shopping and ended up having new friends. Delightful older couple!

    I tried to pick up a couple of things from Walmart but the aisles were either empty or such a mess that the effort to find anything was useless. Safeway was civil but busy, although the stocking was good. They also has lots of nice looking fruit and veggies. The meat department was picked over pretty hard. The cashiers were all trying to smile and be as helpful as possible given the circumstances, just no rain checks... All-in-all not too bad.

    I did the early Stop and Shop for my 3 elderly neighbors today at 6. Went 30 minutes before and there was 40 online already
    Got them TP chicken rice potatoes and chop meat.  
    By the time I left there wasn't much left even with a 2 limit on most items.  
    1/3rd wearing masks.  Our county is going down hill quick because of the usual A H's who spread measles last year.

    Dirty selfish rats care about no one but themselves.  
    Couldn't lose all that wedding money

    We're on our way to our Senior Hour in just a few minutes. Great time - the toilet seat lickers aren't up yet. And just maybe the store has had time to restock a few things overnight.

     my oldest son told me its ether  Tuesday or Thursday he did not pay that much attention to the sign but tolds me wallyworlhad placed a sign up 1st hour of the day(s) only 60 or older could come in  
     I may check it out I am sure I will have to show my ID to get in as I am 63 but look 30  or so   LOL   wheres the green font when you need it

    Most businesses will do the right thing without GOVERNMENT mandating.

    Come to think about it.. just shop early the kids don't get up to around 9 or 10 am or sometimes later

    Our local Smith's (Kroger West) has Senior Hour every morning now 7 to 8 a.m. Nobody under age 60 allowed, limit of two of anything - BUT they had all night to stock shelves. We went today. There was a double line 100 yards long to get in. In 10 minutes, every shopping cart was in use, and everybody went immediately to the paper goods aisle. Despite the Limit Two rule, we saw people with carts full. We grabbed one pack of TP and one of nose blow. Then butter, eggs, milk, onions, frozen hash browns (still no whole potatoes) and a sleeve of Coke Zero for my bride.

    The funny thing was the briefing and rules they gave us before they opened. It was like grade school! "No pushing, be kind, careful how you cough, and no running." Hilarious!

    Every Tuesday at our small town Cash Saver grocery store is Senior Day with a 10% discount.
    We all stay out of there on that day. Those ol timers will talk your ear off. :o

      Ok, just pack all those folks in for a short time period instead of spread out thru the day.
      Kinda defeats the 'distancing' program. 
      And the idiots will still show up 'claiming they have a health issue'

    In the event you were not aware, people are already waiting in line for the opening of the grocery stores irregardless of age.  Atleast this gives a limited number of slower moving people an opportunity to get some essentials, because with out a couple special hours per week they would likely get nothing.  If anything the "social distancing" is more likely followed by this group then by the general public, because these folks are the most vulnerable to the contagion.    If they are in there on their own, with out rude, selfish people brushing past they are likely to get what they need with out any chaos.

    Before we went shopping this morning, I had heard the rumor that folks were being extremely rude.  However, my experience was quite the opposite.

    Everyone we encountered were as sweet as honey.

    One fellow even complimented me...on the 2-point military sling I had on my KelTec Sub 2000 carbine.
