Working for the closest business to my house. A one/two year old Dollar General. Turned down Management offers by the DM, for a store 20 miles away. Pass. Not only did not want to do tge commute, but the brutal schedule those folks maintain.

Considering the extremely limited work available in my small town, I feel fortunate to have found it. Especially with what is going on now. Half way thought the offer would be withdrawn. "We are not currently hiring." DG, has been very, very busy through this thus far.

You will feel less like a failure...

    You will suffer less financially...

    You might sleep better...

Something to pass the time productively...

Be a gun buyer not a gun seller.....

    The dog will be relieved.

I am in for the giveaway.

    Mike

Hey, a job is a job. I am fortunate to have aquired it, considering what little is available locally. (Next to nothing.) I am not overly proud. I will do what I have to do, in order to pay the bills. I am somewhat concerned what this added contact with the general public and exchanging/handling money will mean for my contact exposure with the Covid19 virus. Remains to be seen.

Beyond that, I am sure it will be easier/more laid back than my last job on the production line. A Hell hole/meatgrinder. Was much better pay, but a 66 mi. commute at the wee hours (3:30-4:30) of the morning. Endless 6 day work weeks. Etc. Glad to be out of there.

    It's all good.

Thanks again you guys. (It was looking pretty bleak.)

Picked up a 36 (double roll) pack while interviewing, couple weeks ago. ($10) 😉 My one and only hoarding purchase. There were five carts/people loaded with as much TP as would possibly fit in the cart, when I walked in.

Was in the grocery store yesterday. Zero TP or Paper towels. Zip, zero, nada. Wiped out. (It was like Armageddon.) Bread aisle wiped out. Crazy. Did not venture over to the canned goods aisle to check that out. Looked okay a few days ago.

I did notice price on Chunky soup, TP etc. Was much better at DG. Thrilled I only have to drive about 7 miles to get there. 😊 compared to the one hour each way, I have been doing for 5 1/2 years.

Thanks again all. It'll pay the bills, and provide healthcare after 90 days.

You do know that the Dollar stores are the first to get robbed when the shtf, right?

The TP hoarding, is just Nucking Futs. Media driven madness.

Please keep me up to date on how your experience at DG goes for you Ken.  Before all this crap broke loose I had been pondering taking up a part time gig at our close to home Family Dollar store.  They seem to have some nice folks working there and do not age discriminate like so many places do these days.  Extra income is always fun to have and the costs of gun parts for my hobby have been going up faster than selling prices for finished pieces!

local lowes had big sign at entrance, hiring all positions, started about $4 or so above minimum.  not sure how far to the closest one is near you they have decent insurance and employee discount.

Closest Lowes is about 40 mi. Each way. Looked at them, not interested in one hour each way, on top of my workday. I appreciate you though.

Yeah, I would much prefer that. With my sleep apnea/insomnia, I have been waking up between 1-3 am.

Due to an incredible stroke of bad luck, I took the last 4 months off after getting let go at work. (Long before this virus was on anybodies radar.) Now I HAD to get back to work, just when I should be taking 4 months off to stay home.

I am afraid I would be one of the "Serious" cases with my health issues, and I am going in to a work zone that has a high risk of infection. Feeling pretty screwed right now. Someone here posted that Boone, NC has it's first confirmed case. (Next town over.) I am extremely concerned.

    Bravos Buddy Betting Pool

Separation anxiety can be a smother Tucker as nobody used to say...

And he has been suckling and the teat of brotherhood and togetherness for a wee bit too long...

It's been "Me and my shadow" and "he ain't heavy he's my brother" it's been like some not appropriate for children Disney dog and man bromance pic...

Breaking each day into 4 equal 6 hour blocks...

How many blocks or days or days + blocks can buddy go without eating a piece of furniture or shredding a blanket or some other cute Pavlovian response manifesting itself in some biblicaly decisive manner...

Oh he got into doggy jail within the first month he was here. Bought a big lion cage. Every time I go anywhere he goes in. Yes, I am afraid he has been getting way more attention than he is used to. It is going to be a shock to him. He is not going to be very excited/happy about it.

Wish I could leave him out, but he has shown that is not an option.

Congratulations my friend! It’ll work out for you. Stick with the normal protocols-repeated thorough hand washing, etc, you’ll be ok. In time this too will pass.
