The panic is unreal

"I can't imagine how bad it would be if there was a real emergency across our lands...."
@bpost , I think you do, and so do the rest of us!!
Sad and a bit scary, huh?3 -
I believe you are (unfortunately) correct badchris. I sure am glad I live rural.

In a "real emergency" it won't be the emergency itself that causes the most problems.
I'm not discounting the possible seriousness of this "pandemic" because we've not seen the end by a long shot. I'm far better prepared to deal with a Zombie horde spreading across the land than with my own incapacitation, high fever, and dehydration.0 -
We were talking at the shop last night. How ignorant people are with this. Buying bath tissue by the case "because" that's what the faceboof crowd is pushing that people need? For what? Are you going to eat because they might have a can of tuna and some frozen dinners in the freezer. IF, something really did happen the USA would turn to chaos, literally. 0 -

So many people nowadays do not cook much or keep food in the house.. we keep 2 pantries and 2 freezers and rotate stock.. started that years ago when we kept a house full of different kids and it just became habit.. When there is a problem they panic because they have nothing in the house to fall back on. The one that surprised me was the run on ammo locally , I order most ammo online by the case so always have plenty,, why would anyone own a firearm and not keep enough ammo ??

I hear you sharpshooter. I have enough food, (at all times) to last months. Same with water.
Prior to the last ammo shortage, when my Bud's and I would go to gunshows, they would buy the newest caliber/craze. I would be buying mags for my existing firearms. I order ammunition online. I keep several thousand rounds for each caliber I have. (In most cases.) When ammunition supplies dried up, they were begging me to sell them some. Especially .22's.
I had made the mistake of telling them I probably had around 10k rounds. (And) They wanted me to sell it to them for what I had paid for it. I declined, telling them it would cost me much more to replace it, and pointing out the fallacy of their prior firearm buying practices. I always try to take a long term outlook, rather than grabbing the newest fad. I believe they learned a valuable lesson, last time ammo prices went way up, or was unavailable.

My new dark fantasy is to hear about idiots starving to death surrounded by toilet paper.
The Gene Pool needs a huge dose of chlorine.
I'm thinking of sponsoring a gun trade in program:
One roll of toilet paper for every gun.3 -
I tried to explain that to one of the others on here the other day. He didn't think the President was being alarmist enough in his talk to the nation about the virus. Most so called news pundits said he was to calm about this CRISIS! Trump is trying to calm people down and the media is trying to make them panic. I guess responsible journalism doesn't get good enough ratings. Any guesses when the first fear driven riot occurs? It is sad and scary to watch this panic. What if a real emergency hit our country? It looks like we would collapse. 0 -
Yep. This "test run" is going very badly. 0 -

It is sad and scary to watch this panic. What if a real emergency hit our country? It looks like we would collapse.I agree. This Country, is no where near ready to deal, with a Serious threat. (It is sad.)
Things would get (and may yet get,) really, really bad over this. Inner Cities are not ready to deal with anything, beyond "where is my check?" It is indeed sad. As stated on previous other threads, "glad I live rural."
