     He was a classic act 
    lot of great guest on his shows 
     I enjoyed watching him unlike the "talk shows " of today I cant change channels fast enough when they come on

    Right D-R, he was one of a kind.  I liked Jay also and David not so much (more silly than funny) even though he is a fellow Hoosier.  After Jay retired I watched for a month or so than just gave up on all of them.  That's been years ago so I watch movies, history channel, and a few other things on late night.

    My all time favorite Johnny Carson show was when he had Dick Butkis and Clair Peller on. She was the little old lady in the Wendy's commercials back in the day (WHERE'S THE BEEF!!!!)

    She was on the couch and Dick came out and sat in the big chair and after talking to Johnny for a while, Clair bellows out "What kind of name is Butt Kiss anyway". 

    I laughed so hard I had tears streaming down my face.

    I was just a kid  but have watched reruns of Red Skelton  he had a lot of special guest on also  and I  noticed watching his show a few nights ago  his  dancing girls showed a lot of skin for the time period on TV  
     maybe thats why dad liked to watch so much ( well part of it Red was a talented fellow in his own right ) 
    I see one where Jamie Fox  (sp)  Klinger  from MASH  (long before that show  ) was on and Red was making fun of his big nose

     we had capt kangaroo and mr greenjenes      ..  Capt kangaroo  real name  Bob Keeshan  was a WWII marine 
    watched his show as a kid before heading off to school 
     found this  Captain Kangaroo, which ran from 1955 to 1984, the longest-running nationally broadcast children's television program of its day.

    I enjoyed watching Jackie Gleason. Both his variety show and his Honeymooner's sitcom.  Crazy Googenheim at Joe's bar! What a hoot!  Those June Taylor Dancers making all those long legs in kaleidoscope fashion!  Ralph Cramdon and Ed Norton were great and that little cartoon spinoff known as The Flintstones were almost a parody of those two!

    To quote Jackie after a sip out of that coffee cup filled with booze...….."WOOOW!" "How sweet it is!"

    Steve Allen. I was in grade school. If I slunk back into the couch, my parents wouldn't notice me so much and send me off to bed. Some of the comedians who would show up regularly, I remember, were Bob Newhart, Tom Poston and Louie Nye.

    They just had several reruns of My Little Margie on & I taped them. After the second one I erased them. I really loved Gail Storm both on the show and as a singer but I couldn't believe how corny the shows were.
