New rifle
I decided to treat myself after winning the tourney in Cincinnati. I just ordered a CZ 527 Lux in 22 Hornet.

I've wanted a 22 Hornet for a long time but don't really have a need for it's niche. I decided need be damned I want one, so I'm getting one. Should be fun to shoot and I'm sure I'll find uses for it.

Sweet! Now you need a good scope for it. 0 -
Nice rifle, great varmint round. I'm pretty sure I want one. 0 -
I have the same rifle only in the "American" style. They are great guns and the single set trigger is sweet.I use mine to shoot crows and ground hogs. I have used it on squirrels I just load the rounds down some and use fmj bullets. Not sure if its legal though to use a center fire on squirrel.Reloading for the 22 Hornet is not all that fun unfortunately. They can be a PITA but stick with starline brass and you won't have any problems. For powder Hodgen Lil gun works so good its about all I use now.

I think of the 22 Hornet as a good general purpose utility round. Load it down as needed. The full jacketed bullets are a good idea and I hadn't thought of that. It sips powder so if I have enough brass and primers I could go for years. Good for small critters, varmints, and can step up to deer if needed. I bought one with iron sights just in case, though I'm sure I'll mount a scope in the future. I've read that Lil gun was a great powder for this cartridge, sounds like that'a right. 0 -
Scout I shot a doe with mine a few years ago. She was in my garden and I had chased her away a few times (She jumped a 6' fence). She got a head shot from about 40 yards. I used a 40gr FMJ full power load.
I have killed ground hogs out to 200 yds but that is really pushing the little Hornet, I would say it is a good 100-150 yd gun for large varmints like Ground hogs, small coyotes and beaver. It is a great crow killer but I like my 17 Rem better for crow.Hornady has a 35gr V-Max that my gun really likes.

I had a TC Contender in 22 hornet that was a good shooter. The 2w hornet is easy to reload and fun to shoot.

I also have a Burberry 22 KHornet 12" barrel for my Contender. It's a great shooter. The last thing I shot with it was a beaver from about 80 yards, DRT. 0 -
Like Sam, I have 2 of the American versions. One in 204 Ruger, and another one in 221 fireball. The set triggers are great. I always wondered why the "American" version has a backwards safety? 0
