Locust Fork
I saw your thread about business vehicles and though I can't help you with the tax implications I'd like to make a recommendation as to rig I think might work great for you. Check out the Ford Transit Connect vans. LOTS of cargo room, great mileage, and they're pretty comfortable. I have one where I work and when they bought it I was completely ready to be under-whelmed by it but it has proven itself to be a pretty darn nice rig.
There's enough room in the cargo area to build/buy a set of racks for securing a bunch of firearms for transport.
I've made numerous three to six hour road trips in mine and it has been pretty comfortable even with the base level cloth seats. My only complaint with it is that it is a bit noisy due to a lack of insulation in the cargo area.

Cool option! Great to know. The Traverse is a pretty nice ride, but the mileage is horrible. I think I'm getting an average of around 16 mpg. Whatever I do, I don't plan on buying another "cushy" large vehicle.....I will miss those air conditioned seats in the summer though!! 0 -
FEAR NOT! I think there's a version of the Connect that has the leather A/C seat option. The one I'm using now has the 1.5 liter engine and gets about 27 MPG city/highway combined. For a 1.5 liter engine that thing really scoots! When the turbo kicks in you can really feel the extra boost and it corners better than I ever would have expected. 0 -
Agree that they are a pretty decent work vehicle. As Steve mentioned, they can be pretty noisy from the cargo area, depending on what type of racks you put in them.. 0
