Mossberg 46b odd stamping
Nqt46b. Any idea what that is. My friend inherited this rifle from his father and it was supposed to have belonged to his grandfather and was the training military rifle. Any ideas. Thanks

That is a very interesting stamp on that rifle. Mossberg produced rifles over the years that were not even cataloged. It looks to me that the stamp reads, NO.T46B. It could be that the rifle was special ordered with a heavier target barrel, therefore the "T" designation. While I have never seen one in the wild, I have seen pictures of them and they are indeed rare. I just measured the barrel on my 46B and it is .610 at the muzzle. If your is larger , that could be what you have.
On a side note, the training rifles for the military were the 42MB, and the 44US.0
