Fat Tuesday is Paczki Day
I don't know if the rest of the country is into these but here in Michigan, the Paczki is the go to pastry for some darn sweet eating! My favorite is filled with Bavarian crème and frosted with chocolate frosting.
They are an over-stuffed (with filling) sweet roll made with a lot of different choices of fillings and toppings from just powdered sugar, glazed, or frosted with many flavors of frosting.
Another Polish tradition here popular before Lent.

One of the few redeeming things that come out of suburban Detroit. A gazillion calorie jelly or custard filled pastry that is about the closest to heaven you can get gastronomically. Single handedly they justify the name tag fat Tuesday but it's only once a year so indulge till your hearts content. 😊 Bob 0 -
Polish creampuffs! Remember them well from when I grew up near St Louis. Many Poles, Lithuanians, EUs of all kinds. Some enjoyed year-round, some only on certain feast days, some only at funerals, some at weddings...Lord, could those folks make pastries. My Mom was Czech, and her creampuffs (forget the Czech word for them) were among the best. 0 -

I heard there was a run on a store here in NW CT this AM, those things were flying off the shelf.
The waitress where I ate was going on about her diet to the woman who brought a dozen & then she stuffed one down in a flash.0 -
Another religious day appropriated by heathens. 0 -
I did not get get my paczki too busy at work. There are quite a few polish bakeries in the area and all have very good paczki’s.
We are going to Poland in the summer and hope to get to try quite a few polish dishes.0 -

If you've heard of Mardi Gras but not not Fat Tuesday, you definitely don't speak French. 0 -
I was born on a Tuesday and my mom was Catholic. Been fighting my waistline bulge all of my life!
Fat Tuesdays mean I can just wear sweat pants for a day!0
