HD pickups 250 2500 350 3500 ford chevy dodge 2013-2020 got the shakes

anyone here with one of big 3 HD pickups have problemes with the so called death wobble in the front ends in the 2013-2020 model years if so what corrective action was needed

    Ford? Live with it.
    If not you probably have too much weight on the rear and not enough on the front axle.

    thinking of a new HD truck but this stuff has been showing on the utube  I have been driving 3/4 pickups all my time and never had this happen to me??

    My 2019 f350 SD 4x4 has never given me a problem with the steering or shakes.

    All three have lawsuits Chevy Dodge Ford.  However larger tires, lift kits all add stress to the front ends. I had some on my old 06 Dodge 4x4 and added a new stabilizer and it stopped.

     with the older Jeeps it was a very common problem, didn't know it could still happen with independent suspensions and modern suspensions........

    My brothers ram 3/4 ton had it bad. He hasn't had the pickup for several years but it was probably in 2012 or so with a 2008ish Ram.


    Shook THE HELL out of the pickup when it happened, just randomly happened to...fast/slow, bumpy road/smooth. Was something else!

    A neighbor of mine had a 2018 Chevy HD 4x4 pickup over the course of 9 months ownership it was it the dealers shop for 45 days, it was steering and transmission related, the Death Wobble was a violent shaking of the front end with the steering wheel rotating left  and right by a couple of inches very fast. A very scary happening that came and went with no hint when it was going to occur.
    Chevy finally bought the truck back , they said after replacing the wiring , computers, sensors , and related items that it was unfixable.

    Death wobble is a term I have only ever heard in conjunction with Jeeps, but I suppose it could be a condition that afflicts other vehicles with similar running gear issues.

    Old VWs would get that problem when the steering damper went bad.Bump in the road or RR tracks and they would shake so bad you would have to stop the vehicle.

    Culprits, wheels out of balance, rotors warped(shakes when you hit brakes), steering stabilizer shot, to name a few.
    How many miles on the truck? Details?

    The Ford "death wobble" or sudden, violent steering oscillation seems related to improper castor angle.  Based on what I've been reading the only real true fix is to add a 4-5 degree castor shim, but Ford can't seem to get them.  I had one instance at 70 when I hit an expansion joint and it lasted about 10 seconds.   I've had my truck into the dealer for a vibration at highway speed and they re-aligned it at N/C with 3K miles it. The alignment did correct most of the vibration.  They believed it came from the factory out of alignment.   My suspension is stock on a 2019 F250, but I've added 35 OD mud hybrid tires.   Death wobble is a term associated with solid front axle trucks, and jeeps.   I wouldn't expect to see death wobble in a Chevy since they have IFS.

    bought a new f250 2019 sitting in garage for winter with 400 miles ordered it special in 2wd only I have drove this set up for years no problem but now want to order a 7.3 Godzilla gasser for garage queen don't need a 50,000 wobler

    My 2010 Ram 2500 just developed this after 260,000 miles.  A little research (done today) points to worn track bar bushings.  I'll see if this is the cause once my employee returns to the shop.

    Yes, all Dodge ram's do it forever.  My 2000 with 552,000 on it used to have the death wobble from time to time.  A track bar is usually the cause but even BRAND NEW trucks have had it within 100 miles from the showroom.  Hell bent steel products has a 100% for sure fix for it.  I put it on about 200,000 miles ago and have never had a single episode of death wobble since, I also put the steering shaft pitman arm stabilizer on and it helps preserve the gear box. 

    For those of you that have not experienced the DODGE DEATH WOBBLE trust me in saying it scares the living crap out of you.  The vibrations is so severe and violent it will leave an indelible impression on your shattered psyche.  The only way to stop it is hammer the brakes and hope the poor slob behind you is not tailgating.

    I've experienced this several times with solid front axle JEEPs. Never had it happen with an IFS Chevy.
