Kobe Bryant's widow files wrongful death lawsuit against helicopter company
She probably got tired of lawyers beating her front door day and night.

Of course she did, I don't know if she has a decent case or not but the Lawyers are right there with the Socialist Democrats bound to destroy America. Hard to run a business today when rates are going up every year due to all the frivolous suits out there and the dial all 9's scum bags. 0 -

You roll the dice, you take your chances. I have been on many Choppers. Bad weather, engine problems, etc. I hate it for him, but it is what it is. Not denigrating him in any way.
I doubt that is how the Pilot, envisioned this going down. Doubt he wanted to eat dirt. Did the best he could, I am sure.

Very reliable Sikorsky model, this particular unit was 29 years old. Hard to see how the maker (Lockheed Martin) is at fault here. 0 -
Frivolous. It was pilot error. Flew from visual into instrument conditions. Controlled flight into terrain. He screwed up. It's sad. No fault of the helicopter company; the bird was working fine. 0 -
I have flown helo's in that same area, but in clear weather. I would never fly through there in the conditions present on that day. I believe that due to his high profile client(s) on that trip he felt pressured to "get there". Get Thereitis has killed many pilots and the people with them. 12 -
1st sorry for all involved families and friends , truly a sad day all around .
2nd WOW I am shocked I tell you .
who would have guessed a lawsuit would follow .
I have to imagine the pilot was being pressured ( still his choice do it or never work again had to play out )
hurry up get us there we can not be late ....
lastly , sadly the lawyers stand to make more than I will ever see in five life times off this one case0 -
With a net worth of $600 million, my guess is it's less about the money and more about making them pay for the death of her hubby and child. She's likely got more money then she can spend in her lifetime already. She's pissed and wants her pound of flesh, she can't get it from the pilot, so she's going for the next closest thing. They won't be in business much longer. I can't say as I blame her, if I were in her position I'd destroy them too. 6 -
I have said the same thing, pressure from the clients from being late pushed the pilot, past the point of return. They had to hold for a while which made them even later, so continued on into weather that they should of not been up flying in already.Laredo Lefty said:I have flown helo's in that same area, but in clear weather. That pilot was rated Visual Flight Rules.
That helo was only equipped for VFR.
That pilot had previously been cited by the FAA for violating safety rules.
Jackass pilots who over-fly their capabilities have gotten countless people killed.
She will win her lawsuit, guaranteed.

But she is suing the helicopter manufacturer, is she not? I guess it has not been made clear who is being sued here. If she is suing the organization who owned the chopper and employed the pilot, then yes, she will win. That's why they carry tons of insurance. 0 -
I just don't get it. The family doesn't need the money. The pilot is dead. The crash investigation is far from complete. What is to be gained by forcing the helo company into bankruptcy? How much of your time left will you have to spend sitting in court? Terrible things happen; you get on with your life for sake of your children, even though the pain seems unbearable.
