NCIS TV show
I finally watched part of one of those NCIS TV shows today.
Them people is almost as goofy as the real NCIS (formerly NIS).
From time to time I’ve wondered why they changed their name from Naval Investigative Service (NIS) to Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). I came up with a couple of theories. First is “NIS” is also the Naval Supply Systems Command’s abbreviation for “Not in Stock”. I discarded that theory because “NCIS” is the Naval Supply Systems Command’s abbreviation for “Not Carried in Stock”. Not much of an improvement for the name.
My second theory was adding “Criminal” to the name would give the impression you are dealing with adults who might know something about their business. If that was the intent it didn’t work.
After giving it a little more thought I realized I don’t really give a * what their intention was or what they call themselves so I decided not to sacrifice any more of my limited supply of brain cells on the subject.
I can think of one valid reason for NCIS to exist. It gives young people with a Bachelor’s degree and no idea what to do with it something to do while they figure it out.

While I enjoy the shows. I find it/them extremely implausible. Those guys have a larger body count than most SEAL Teams. Crazy stuff.
Have worked with a lot of CID Teams. (Military Photographer.) Documenting Crime Scenes, over a 5 year period.

The original NCIS is one of my favorite shows. Leroy Jethro Gibbs is the man. The spin off's aren't that great. 0 -
There are so many of these NCIS locations perhaps the next will be "NCIS Peoria". 0 -
This is true but who would watch a series about a day in the life of an accountant ?KenK/84Bravo said:While I enjoy the shows. I find it/them extremely implausible. Those guys have a larger body count than most SEAL Teams.
