    Yes I think that was the term I was looking for.  However, I have seen stuff done by sailors and airmen than didn't see trenches.

    Pretty sure I got this at a flea market or yard sale, I've Googled the name a few times trying to see if I could come up with anything.
    I imagine Mr. Jeri has passed on by now. It may not have meant much to who ever disposed of it but perhaps the grandchildren might be interested in it.

    I struck out as well.  Searched high and low, but I no longer subscribe to FOLD3, which might have turned him up.  

    What surprised me is that the name did not turn up in the Social Security Death Index, which suggests that there might have been a later spelling of the family name, such as Marion Jero that did show one time, only, but that's a longshot, too.

    I don't think the locations necessarily represent battles that he(?) participated in for a couple of reasons.  

    The star symbols look to be representative of the Star of David and the Jewish faith.

    It certainly would make a great gift to the right party.

    It's been fun!

    Thanks for trying, I also wondered if one marine would have been sent to all those places but it even looks like some were perhaps R&R as New Caledonia I believe was no fighting just a base, and other than Pearl Harbor I don't think anything was going on in Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii.  I guess we will never know!

     I wonder if Jeri is the name of his wife/girlfriend it is usually a womens name, marion may have been his first name, if so it would be even harder to find him/his family.  may be easier if they were married, but if it was a girlfriend and they never got together later on, it may be near impossible to track him down.

    hillbillie:  Good points, and considering that no rank is associated with the name, it sorta strengthens the idea that Marion might have been, perhaps, a sweetheart.
