Stock market down 3 per cent plus today

I do not contribute to the scam that is the "Stock Market." An insiders game. (So, I really do not care, either way.)
If you believe that is an even playing ground, I have a few bridges to sell you.
Kinda like stocking Gold/Silver, to trade for guns, ammo, food etc. You do not think that is not going to make you, a HUGE target? Puhleese.
Better have your Guns, Ammo, Food in order, before that time comes.

No real drop there whats a 1,000 points, this is more like a made up reason to say we had a correction LOL I would rather see a continued correction into the 24K territory so we can flush out talks of recession and correction and move on MAGA

This 3 year bubble is the longest in WS history. With a 10,000 point jump from day one , I don't think anything is going to burst for 1000 points. 0 -
On the other hand, Ken, have Food, Guns, Ammo, Gold, Silver, and investment in the Stock Market is not a bad thing either.KenK/84Bravo said:I do not contribute to the scam that is the "Stock Market." An insiders game. (So, I really do not care, either way.)

The market is now where it was at the beginning of December, 2019. That is less than three months ago. A minor correction.
It is not an insider's game or a scam. Maybe not a truly even playing field, but if a person does not do stupid things, it is really the only investment that will compound your money to any real extent.3 -
On the radio they were saying that the market bounces around over every little bit of news, if it affects things or not, just the "news" of things is enough to drive the market in a new direction. They were saying it was the fact that Sanders was announced as the winner of the debates and looks like the forerunner of the Democratic party was the reason the market dipped.
Knowing that a slight hint of Bernie getting any hint of power can do that to the market....imagine what it would do if he actually won??? (Not going to happen.)0 -
Don't worry....it will come back 0 -

Actually the year started off very well with the market up substantially. Hard to believe but 1/6 of the year is already past and there has been a modest correction. This has taken away the gains we experienced earlier this year plus a little more. Good time to rebalance and pick up some less expensive equities for the portfolio.select-fire said:Not starting the yr off well

Time to panic! Time to panic! The sky is falling! All I know is that a mutual fund that I have had for 30 years has outperformed any other type of investment I could have had money invested in. There have been several corrections and a full blown recession in that time and by not panicking and leaving the money there I have made out rather well. Some will cash out now and perhaps buy gold. When the market goes up and gold goes down they will reverse the process and lose on both ends. You are supposed to buy low and sell high and stupid people do the reverse. Bob 3 -

Yep,...been investing for over 30 years, and wouldn't even think of posting here how much I have made from doing so.
Dow was down 3.55% today,.....I was down 1.8%. A little hedging goes a long way.Anyone familiar with the market knows it has been looking for a reason to sell off,......ANY reason. It needs to drop some more to be honest, and most likely will. I won't lose any sleep over it.

It's different this time around with the virus pandemic. If you need an indicator then here it is. When The Chinese communist party meets in their so called congress without any medical face masks on then you can start bottom feeding. Otherwise, they are just forcing their slave labor to drop dead in factories right now, to make it look like the coast is clear!
Remember actions are louder than words.

Bridgewater Associates LP has bet more than $1 billion that stock markets around the world will fall by March, said people familiar with the matter.Bridgewater Makes $1.5 Billion Options Bet on Falling Market
The wager, assembled over a span of months and executed by a handful of Wall Street firms, including Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley, would pay off for the world’s biggest hedge fund if either the S&P 500 or the Euro Stoxx 50—or both—declines, some of the people said.

Back in the early 80s, I was a new investor and owned a few stocks and mutual funds and the Dow was at about 1500 to 1800 (wrap your head around that!). Got extremely nervous about the market and sold everything. About 2 weeks later there was a 500 point drop in one day. This was a huge percentage drop without the market being able to stop trading like today. I was feeling pretty good about my instincts and very damn smug.
Well, that cash just sat there for over a year and I lost out big time while the market recovered handsomely. Promised myself never again. Rode through the 2008/9 crash and lost about 50% while holding some pretty good large market mutual stock funds.
Stay in the market, get a financial planner to diversify your risk (taking a little lesser returns in return for safety), include a little hard gold or silver for a complete crash, and after that, buy all the guns and ammo, SHTF food as a bit of insurance, favorite beverage and enjoy your life.

Dow plunges 1,100, worst point drop in history, will Fed act?
With Thursday’s massive sell-off, the Dow and S&P 500 are on pace for their worst week since 2008. The Dow is down more than 11% week to date while the S&P 500 has lost 10.7%. Thursday’s losses also put the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq in correction territory, down more than 10% from their record closes.0 -
