Anyone used an AimCam?

It’s a pair of shooting glasses that records. Thought I’d get one to help the grandson be able to record his trap shooting sight picture and shots to help him see what he’s doing. Where he aims when he hits vs. misses.

Might help me too as I try to get them figured out!

Any experiences with them?

    Most of those "devices" are bulky and distracting--neither of which is conducive to successful shooting for a novice. Spend your money on "tracer" shells to get him started. Immediate feedback w/o distraction.  I usually just stand behind the shooter looking over their shoulder. Also a distraction but in some cases, it actually puts some pressure on the shooter to pay attention to gun position and such.

    If it is possible, lock trap machine at an angle that he is having trouble with. Shoot that angle till he can break that clay most of the time, Sight memory, muscle memory will take over.

    Thanks Alpine. I can do that. Started him on Straight aways on post 3. Figured if I could equip him with videos I could get him to visualize the good shots when he’s not there to try to enhance muscle memory.

    I "coached" my first FFA trap team 40 years ago and that team of farm boys with hardware store shotguns got 2nd place in the regional competition. Over the years I've worked with several shooters to help them become better on clay birds. Last year I offered assistance to the local school's trap team which was denied since I'm not "certified to interact with children"(whatever that means). End result was: the good shooters continued to be good shooters while the less experienced or just mediocre shooters made very little progress and ended the season about where they started minus $250 each in trap and ammo fees.
    All the techno-wizardry won't help much if the coach can't make the shooter understand WHY the miss occurred. Seeing the tracer fly in front, behind, above, below or whatever gives instant, no questions feedback. Putting a video camera on the gun would be great but is going to upset the balance and may not give a clear picture in some cases.
