...if they would only now require ID for voting, across the board.

    Nope.

My plan is to keep the FAKE ID that I have been buying from them for many years.

If it was good enough then, . . . .

My drivers license doesn't expire for another 7 years and I've got a passport so I'm in no hurry to get the real ID. By that time I'll be pushing 80 years old anyway so what the hell will I need an ID for at that age. The grocery store will probably be as far away from home as I'll get. I'm forsure not getting on one of the flying petri dishes they use for airplanes today. I might consider flying if they'll double or triple the price of plane tickets which would put the Greyhound crowd back on the bus.

Utah just sent out replacements, no action required on our part.
I've done dangerous things involving airplanes. I'll take the risk of flying, even these days.

"I've done dangerous things involving airplanes."
Understatement of the year, right there!

told me the last time I renewed that if you didn't have new real ID, you wouldn't be able to enter a federal building, or board plane without it, didn't care about the plane part, but figured I might need it to get in social security office, though they have never asked for picture ID when I have been there.  always wondered if you didn't have it how would you report to jury duty if not allowed in federal building??????  only difference I could tell was the thumbprint

    I did last year.

I could not find my birth certificate so I headed to the circuit clerks office.

I had to show them my drivers license to get my birth certificate so I could show the drivers license facility my birth certificate so I could get my drivers license. 😟

I went through that with my mother when she was 92, except her drivers liscence had expired and they wouldn't take it as ID, she had a certificate of live birth, which is what was issued in 20's if you were born at home, the state wanted a witness who was there at the birth!!!  they finally accepted an exprired passport to change the cerficate of live birth to a " birth certificate ", someone down at state capitol, actually took a pen drew a line through the certificate of live birth and handwrote birth certificate instead, and she then used this to get her new drivers liscence, all because her current driver liscence had been expired for more than 30 days.............

If you already have a passport, you have given the same information already, so I don't see the downside of real ID.  Not much way around it when you renew your DL, but if you want to be the only 80 year old around, with no idea who he is... Wait maybe you wouldn't be the only one.  Never mind.
