I was visiting a friend who breeds, buys and sells snakes and other types of reptiles! YUCHH!!
So my friend told this guy the best way to get the pythons teeth out of this guys hand. Then he says that is how you do it if you have friends with you. He than says if you are alone and a medium sized python really nails you and gets his teeth into you really good, my friend said kill it. Kill it the fastest way you can kill it but kill it!! As in graveyard dead, before you end up hurt or worse!!
So this guy finally leaves and I ask my friend "So just how big is a medium sized python??" And my friend says 14 feet. 14 FEET...….HOLY JESUS...….14 FEET...….HOW THE HELL BIG IS A BIG PYTHON???? My friend said 20 feet. 20 FEET!! I LIKE YOU BUT YOU AND THESE FRIENDS OF YOURS ARE COMPLETLY ^%#$^&%^$$ NUTS!!!!! THIS IS WHY I NEVER COME OVER TO YOUR HOUSE!!! He just laughed. He said very few people will come into his house but he said he will invite any salesman type in. They leave fast without being asked.
14 feet and the ability to kill you is medium sized. Unbelievable!!!

my policy has allways been, if it stays in the woods fine, if it is down around the house it better be running back towards the woods or bye, bye. don't matter what the size or color, leave me alone and I will leave you alone..... but to have one as a pet, no way on earth, each their own I guess, but don't come visiting with it, at least not at my house........... 3 -
Worked at an exotic animal importing establishment in Miami, around 1972-73. Had a few scary close encounters with "medium sized" aggresive Pythons. No more for me. Still have bad dreams.

I did not know pythons were known to bite. Always heard about their wrap and squeeze until the "meal\victim" lost the ability to inhale. Of coarse my experiences with all non poisonous snakes include being bitten by them.
Curious about a large pythons teeth setup? Are they long needle like?0 -
Constrictors must bite and hold in order to get a wrap around you. They have small pointed teeth angled backward. The more you struggle the deeper the teeth go in. My limited knowledge. 0 -
saw my first black rat snake at the lake place ...5' long ...none here at home ...they are like our bull snake..great for getting mice...longest bull snake i ever caught was when i was a kid and it was 7'...chemicals and big farm machinery have taken a toll on lots of game 0 -
navc said it right. Lots of teeth angled backwards, the more you struggle the deeper they go. You then have to worry about them doing the "wrap around" which would be the naturel thing for them to due once they have bitten you deeply. According to my friend a 14 footer is big enough it can kill an adult male. If it doesn't succeed in killing you, for a couple of days afterward, you will be so sore and hurting you will wish the python had been successful in killing you! 0 -

Python digs into me the Smith Governor I HOPE will light him up. Course, on a golf course in Bama my ball was like 4 feet from tall grassy sawgrass and a sign said beware of gators. I left it there and played from the fairway.:# 0 -

When I first met my wife (going on 5 decades ago) I had rattlesnakes in my house. Babies were in an aquarium, adults were in wire cages. Didn't find out until YEARS later that she hated snakes. All I have to show for them is the rattles.
I have stopped to take snakes off the road. Keep them from getting run over. A friend locked me out of my own car, when I was moving one, because he thought I was going to bring it into the car.
Friend had pythons, he still has scars from them biting him.0 -
My daughter likes exotic lizard type pets, but no snakes. I can't imagine why anyone likes pets like snakes, lizards and such.....its not like they "love" you back or even like being your pet. 0 -
Same here. I was always under the impression that the first thing constrictors did was bit/and hold their prey, in order to loop/suffocate/constrict. Solid muscle is right. Fighting off/handling a 10 footer while by yourself, would be a feat. A 14 footer? Good luck, unless you had friends to come to your aid.
Would be an absolutely horrible way in which to go.
Rock Pythons are super agressive. There is video of about a 15 footer (easy) literally throwing itself around a tree and climbing, after a monkey. Super scary. (Like the large crocs, leaping 15' in to the air, in order to grab a chicken carcass.)

My buddy Gary was in the Air Force at a base in Thailand in the Vietnam War.
One day Gary was walking in to town to a civilian bar he liked to go to. In the grass he saw a little garter snake.
He picked up the snake and it wrapped around his arm. In a minute, Gary walked in to the bar with the snake.
All the Thailand people in the bar jumped up, and ran out the front door. The bartender said "GI!! Go outside and kill that snake and do so quickly. Or else, you will die young in Thailand!!"
It was a bamboo viper. Gary said it looked like a garter snake.0 -
Monitor lizards, especially The large Komodo Dragon lizards, no go, no way, no how. With all the microbiotic evil crap their bite carries, I am surprised anyone would choose to eat one.
