    Perhaps I didn't explain my point as to the origin being moot. The virus is already worldwide and we should be concentrating on treating the outbreak and not wasting time and effort assigning blame at this point. Perhaps we will learn the whole "truth" about its origin in the future but that knowledge is not necessary to fight the outbreak. I have a hard time believing it it is man made China would risk their economy and population by continuing with their production of these bio agents. That can also be a bad thing as it may stop research leading to vaccines/treatment. It should be of concern that the U.S. has similar if not worse bio research here at home. Do I want them to stop? No as the knowledge they gather can outweigh the possible dangers. Bob

    If the virus came here, no one would know it. Not a single clinic here has a test for it.  That in spite of the fact three cases were just transferred to a local hospital. This is going to be fun!

      Funny how all these biological  scientist are being forced to change their findings of seeing manipulations in footprints of the corona virus 2019 and of course two Chinese bio labs that are in the same Location of the outbreak with The Canadians' bio lab kicking our Chinese scientist last year at their bio lab studying this strain of virus is just too much circumstantial evidence when it breaks out at the beginning of China's biggest holiday season! It's going black for a reason! A cover up!

     Our phylogentic tree of full-length coronaviruses suggests that 2019-nCoV is closely related to SARS CoV [Fig1]. In addition, other recent studies have linked the 2019-nCoV to SARS CoV. We therefore compared the spike glycoprotein sequences of the 2019-nCoV to that of the SARS CoV (NCBI Accession number: AY390556.1). On careful examination of the sequence alignment we found that the 2019- nCoV spike glycoprotein contains 4 insertions [Fig.2]. To further investigate if these inserts are present in any other corona virus, we performed a multiple sequence alignment of the spike glycoprotein amino acid sequences of all available coronaviruses (n=55) [refer Table S.File1] in NCBI refseq (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) this includes one sequence of 2019-nCoV[Fig.S1]. We found that these 4 insertions [inserts 1, 2, 3 and 4] are unique to 2019-nCoV and are not present in other coronaviruses analyzed.      Since the S protein of 2019-nCoV shares closest ancestry with SARS GZ02, the sequence coding for spike proteins of these two viruses were compared using MultiAlin software. We found four new insertions in the protein of 2019-nCoV- “GTNGTKR” (IS1), “HKNNKS” (IS2), “GDSSSG” (IS3) and “QTNSPRRA” (IS4) (Figure 2). To our surprise, these sequence insertions were not only absent in S protein of SARS but were also not observed in any other member of the Coronaviridaefamily (Supplementary figure). *****This is startling as it is quite unlikely for a virus to have acquired such unique insertions naturally in a short duration of time******

    South Korea reported 52 new cases, taking the national total to 156, while Japan reported the first fatalities from a cruise ship which accounted for the biggest cluster of infections outside China.
