Favorite Appetizer -
Mine has always been shrimp on ice, with a side of Spicy Horseradish Cocktail Sauce. (Splash of Worchestershire.)
Around Christmas/Thanksgiving, deals to be had. Buy one get one free, at $11.98/lb. (Essentially $6.50/lb.) Bought a total of four. Thawing half a lb. out just now. Coupled with some Spicy Horseradish Cocktail Sauce, Mmnnn,......................Mmnnn.......................good.
Carry on.

My favorite is White or Pink Abalone sliced, pounded and breaded. Next is Yellowtail barbuced lightly. 0 -
I don't do appetizers. Just bring me the meal. 0 -

Hollowed out jalapeno's, filled with cream cheese, shredded cheese and spices, wrapped in bacon and baked until done..... Or just mix in bacon bits with the cream cheese mixture....
Then there's always the little smokie's wrapped with bacon and topped with a little sprinkle of brown sugar... baked until crisp.0 -
I have several favorites and most are on a budget but taste darn good to me.
Chicken in a biscuit crackers and Winn Schuler's Bar Cheese or same cracker with a good deli spinach dip
Mini pigs in a blanket made with smokie links cut into halves and wrapped in crescent roll dough. They are good dipped in several sauces.
Chicken wing dings. Yup, just those frozen wing sections with the bones in. Prebreaded
\battered\plain\hot&spicey served up with ranch, bleu cheese, barbeque sauces.
A personal favorite is deep fried smelt when I can find them these days. Those little fishes coated with seasoned flour fried crispy and eaten whole bones and all dipped in tarter sauce. YUM!0 -
I would have to say the traditional tater skin.
No more than 1/2" of potato left in the skin, deep fried and then filled with cheese and bacon. Topped with guacamole or avocado slices and a little sour cream.0 -
Often enough that my two grown daughters have taken to mimicking it, I've been known to order appetizers for my dinner!
I love me some Fried green Tomatoes, Stuffed Mushrooms, Oysters Rockefeller, Crab Cakes, Calamari, Bruschetta, Bacon wrapped Scallops, just about any dip and crackers stuff and of course as mentioned already Pigs in a blanket, Coconut or just about any shrimp, Jalapeno poppers and stuffed tater skins. Living here in Charleston SC I'm always game for trying some of the signature restaurants appetizers too!
My at home go to favorite is to take Frito's scoops and fill them with bean dip, top with Cheddar and/or Jack cheese and a sliver of hot/mild pepper on top and bake until bubbly YUM

Chargrilled oysters, and calamari are hard to beat.

Those usually end up being the whole meal for me, with a few livers tossed in!select-fire said:chicken gizzards with hot sauce

Just remembered my wife used to make these mini pizza's using English muffins for the crusts. Her homemade sauce was killer with all sorts of meats, mushrooms & veggies. Dripping with mozzarella! I liked them with anchovies too! I may just have to put a bug in her ear to make me some. It has been years!
I used to like (and still do) deep fried mushrooms and onion rings but gave them up after a buddy showed me by squeezing...…..all the grease those things retain! He called em, grease sponges.0 -
Grilled portabella, please

Consider them more of a meal, but I have been hitting the Wing Bar, on average about every three days. Spicy Buffalo, General Tso's, Lemon Pepper, etc. Blue cheese dressing, Celery, and Carrots. Good stuff.
Paid for it a couple days ago when the large carrot I was attempting to slice lengthwise rolled on me. Took a nice big hunk of flesh off my middle finger left hand. Just finished rebandaging it. 😥

Pig wings. Pork tenderloin cubed up, rolled in flour and paprika (very liberal amount), fried and then drizzled with a honey bbq sauce. 0 -

Love fried Calamari with hot/spicy Marinara sauce. Alas, I have not had any since moving down to TN, from NY/NJ area about 8 years ago.
New Seafood place opened up in town, have fried Calamari on the menu. They say everything is fresh, not frozen. May have to give them a try.

What ever you're serving's good with me 0 -
About to have some swimps, but for the meal, not an appetizer. SWMBO got a "Manager's Special" of peeled swimps with cocktail sauce - too many to consider as a Horsedurve, but with some crusty bread, just about right to split for a meal. Maybe have a beer with it. (That will mean an early night.) 0 -
Had another 1/2 lb. cooked frozen shrimp (thawed) with spicy Cocktail sauce yesterday, along with roughly 1/2 lb assorted wings. Awesome stuff.
Believe I may have to get another two lbs of wings on the way home, after visiting my Mom to do some chores. (And) Thaw some shrimp out. Good stuff.
