Addicted, Wing Bar -
Our local Food Lion about 3 months ago started a hot Wing Bar in their store. I did not partake for the first two months.
Hit them for the first time, right after SuperBowl Sunday, after being disappointed in Pizza Plus's .50 wing deal. (Not a deal.)
Our Food Lion has about 8-10 different variety, bone in, or boneless. I have been hitting the bone in, after my first initial foray into their variety. (Their boneless is essentially white breast meat, you can tell) [big time] between that and mechanically seperated chicken parts. (Pizza Plus.)
General Tso's, BBQ, Buffalo, Lemon Spice, etc. Just stopped by and picked up another couple pounds. (Buffalo and General Tso's bone in.) Mmmnnnnn.....................Mmmnnn....................
Have not hit Taco Bell in about 3 weeks easy. 😥
Good stuff, if you have one local. Highly recommend.
Have hit them about every 2-3 days, since the Superbowl. Celery/Carrots, Blue Cheese, good stuff.
Just saying.

Wish I liked them, I'm not a fan of chicken on the bone, I only eat Breast meat and not too good at scavenging it off the bone, a see folks who can insert a wing and pull it out of their mouth clean and polish off a big ole pile of them just not my thing. Now if they were serving boneless wings with no gristle and no strings in it I could go for all them flavors! 0 -
I'm your opposite, Mog. LOVE to pick bones. Got it from my Mom, who could wait until everyone else had finished eating so she could get at the carcass of a bird. Then she'd pick and gnaw and nibble the meat from any bones nobody had touched yet. They'd be almost museum clean when she finished with them. I do the same when I smoke a turkey or we buy a whole roasted bird. Can't wait to get my hands on the backbone, wings, and whatever else has a bone in it. 0 -
Their boneless are excellent. You can really tell that it is all breast meat, as opposed to mechanically seperated chicken parts. I hit them a few time 1/2 bone in, and 1/2 for boneless. The bone in, are so much better, that is what I have gravitated to.
Good stuff. Throw them on a cookie sheet, 325° for about 15 minutes to crisp em', excellent fare.

They are getting a great deal on chicken from China and passing the savings on to you.

Our local shoprite kitchen offers a bunch of identical sized packages of food in the same fresh hot display rack system - they don't advertise it and you can not order ahead of time as its pot luck...
An interesting selection to be sure - and better then most take out joints by far.

Traditional crispy fried chicken with "shake and bake" basket
Intact roasted crispy whole chicken
Intact roasted crispy whole chicken that has been shredded and fried well done
Traditional southern style deep fryer - fried turkey well done and crispy

And assortment 8 pack of beer bottles: Sapporo and asahi extra dry pale and tsingtao and pilsner urquil and spaten and DAB and Brooklyn IPA and young's ESB
Food like you grew up with - that is bad for your health - like first gen immigrants made - like your grandmother prepared - banned in California - two much for two people eat until you are torpid and bloated and sleepy - pop that top button fair...
Oh and they sell (in returnable glass bottles with pure cane sugar and no HFCS) royal crown cola and Franks wishniak black cherry and mandarin orange slice and Pennsylvania Dutch birch beer and reeds Jamaican style Kingston ginger ale as well as per mixed take a boost slushies and icies...
Without a high level of self restraint one would suffer death by food basket in under 90 days...
I defy you not to ravenously desire more then one of these selections.

Humm, I must drop by the local Food Lion near Banner Elk. 0 -
Chickens raised in poultry house should be a little "cleaner" than the free range type.
They are packed so tight in the "house" that the can't bend over and peck the goodies out of their poop. Not so with the outdoor type. Grins.Who knows what that white stuff on chicken poop is?

I hadn't thought of Food Lion in a long time. We don't have them around here but when I was a roofer our company got the contracts to roof several new Food Lion buildings.
I've always thought that "boneless wings" were not really wing meat.0 -
We have the Wing bar at a new Food Lion here(It used to be a Kroger). I like them too. My wife likes the lemon pepper, I like the General Tso flavor. I only eat the bone in wings.Ricci the Chinese are killing all the chickens they have because they have a huge break out of bird flu so these chickens probably come from SC.

Sounds delicious!
Im going to cook some wings up for us this weekend....probably Sunday night. I'll post some pictures if I remember to take them. I'm trying out a new wing sauce I found. I usually don't order buffalo, but my wife loves it, so that's what I'm going with this time. Last go around I did some in a Pineapple Habanero sauce that is my favorite so far.

Hit them again for another two lbs. (Can't seem to help myself.) Buffalo and General Tso's, bone in.
Our local Food Lion started the hot Wing bar, about the same time they started selling beer. (Ours was a Dry County, up until a few years ago,) beer is very expensive compared to surrounding areas. Food Lion has been kicking A $ $ on prices, compared to the 3-4 places in the entire County, that sold beer.
Was joking with the checkout girl, "yeah unfortunately I am over 21." She - "I would have never guessed. At least you are buying all the right stuff."
Wings and beer. 😉

dark meat just tastes better with buffalo sauce. the white breast nuggets just dont absorb the flavor and are dry.. 0 -
I just stopped by our local Winn-Dixie because of this thread. I got half a bucket of garlic Parmesan and half a bucket of ranch-garlic and a few just original buffalo. All were excellent.

I picked up about 2lbs again yesterday. Spicy Buffalo, General Tso's and Lemon/pepper. Had 1/2 yesterday, will be having the other 1/2 today.
Glad you grabbed some, they were "excellent, and you were inspired. 😁
I add some Hot Sauce, (as of a few days ago Tatoo Kimchiri Coconut,) and lightly warm/crisp in the oven. Mmnnn,............Mmnnn...............Good.

Dang I keep getting hungry seeing your wing posts!

Yup! This post has definitely inspired me to put wings on the table twice this week!
At my local supermarket I found the price for fresh wings a bit too high for my liking, so I hit the freezer section and bought a 5 Lb. of them that were on sale. It was a mistake! Dang things shriveled into over tough chewy strings of white crap that even the best dipping sauces couldn't fix! They must have been injected with 70% water weight before frozen!!
A bit of work deboning them but my dogs are loving their new snacks! I thought I had already graduated from the school of hard knocks but I seem to continually enroll in various classes!

I tried some Superbowl Special Wing deal at Pizza Plus. (.50/wing) They were okay, but not great. I decided to hit the Wing Bar that Food Lion had started about two/three months ago, that I had been walking by and glancing at. Decided, "Oh WTH?" One day. They were Awesome! I have been hitting them about once every three days or so since. I can't stop myself.
I'm glad I am not the only one. You guys have been cracking me up.

Just stopped in and picked up another couple lbs. They must be doing good with it, because they are expanding their variety. New, was Salt & Vinegar. (I love that sheeit on chips.) 3/4 Spicy Buffalo. I just beat my friend & next door neighbor to the wing bar. (By about 5 minutes.) Glad i did, because i almost decimated the Spicy Buffalo, which had been wiped out on the two previous visits.
1/2 lb thawed cooked shrimp, spicy cocktail sauce, sliced carrots & Ranch dressing. Some homemade potatoe salad. I am way looking forward to tonights meal. 😋

Sampled everything, couple pounds, not to bad in a pinch.

Gotta tune em' up. A few shots of Tattoo Kimchiri Coconut hot sauce. A Baking sheet in the oven at 325° for 15 minutes or so, to crisp. Meanwhile you are slicing carrots and celery. Blue cheese/Ranch dressing. Some salt/pepper.
Good stuff.
