Seeing moons...
I see a trend to autoloading carts in revolvers. Makes sense if you have a 9mm or 40 or 45... but you need moon clips unless you want to use a stick to poke out the empties for lack of a rim. My thoughts go one more step. Seems the cylinder has wasted space from a 357 OAL to a 9mm. I would ask why don’t manufacturers make a shorter cylinder and therefore total gun length and dedicate it to only 9 or other acp length. Thoughts?

Some have. I have a Speed 6 in 9mm with a 9mm cylinder. The obvious answer is easier and quicker and therefore cheaper tooling to make one cylinder for three cartridge lengths. 0
