Weather Changing Big Time -
Heavy wind blowing through today. Can tell a front is coming through. Has been somewhat warmer than normal last week or so. Heavy rain. Creeks flooding/over the banks. Supposed to get down to 14° tomorrow night. Woodstove loaded. (Holding off.) Split a bunch of Maple today, added to the indoor wood rick. Feel good about that. Should have probably split more. Have about 3+ weeks worth inside, so not too bad off.

When the days begin to lengthen, the cold begins to strengthen.

I know/realize we are far from done with Winter. Hope I have enough wood to take me through. If not, I have a lot of wood out back to cut up/split. Red Oak/White Oak, Black Gum. Another 3-4 weeks worth of Maple, Red Oak and Black gum, outside the front porch/deck to split, bring in. Been popping it every few days, and bringing some in to cross rick, dry out. Have a decent amount inside. 3-4 weeks worth?

Years ago we heated with wood. Man that's a good feeling to have a big ol stack of good dry wood split.I heard you Brother. Nothing better than having a big A $ $ pile of wood ready to go, for your Woodstove.

With all the wood inside, do you have much problem with bugs? I used to use quite a bit of wood, and sometimes the yellow jackets would come to life... 0 -
More concerned with/about Carpenter ants. Have seen a couple on wood I have split outside. I tend to knock it around to alleviate that problem. I am concentrating on that issue/problem, when I split it/see Carpenter ant cores. I know what to look for.
I feel better having a big A $ $ wood pile inside, drying & ready to go.
Gonna get cold here in the next few days. (14-16° out overnight.) We saw 6-8° before Christmas.

Amen Pulsarnc!!! I would have a lot of problem fighting serious snow. I loved snow when I was young but I am no longer young!! I go out every morning to see how many more daffodils have opened up and to see how the tulips are coming. That is much more pleasant then slipping and sliding in the snow!!
I have also found that living in the "Bible Belt" around so many Conservative people far more fits my value system. Been a Southerner for 30 years now. I couldn't live back in Ohio again and I am referring to the people not the cold.0 -
COLD rain last few days, now down to 5 tonight with wind ect. Ice patches everywhere, watch your steps people. Got enough molasses, biscuits, beer and cold packed possum for a while. 0 -
Currently 74 degrees and sunny on the way to a high of 80 today . Supposed to drop to a high of 47 on Saturday. Then back to 60’s and 70’s next week . North Carolina weather in the spring is “ hold my beer and watch this “!

It is like winter never got here in force. Warm and raining again today, flowers are blooming as are the trees. I hope we don't get a cold snap and mess up my fruit trees again. 0 -
Pouring rain from about 1am on last night. Somewhat cleared up early on 8am until about 10:00am. Now dark skies and pretty heavy winds. 26° tonight. 14° tomorrow night. You can tell a front is coming through.
Holding off lighting the fire until it gets really cold, probably later this evening sometime.

We just had a frog choker of a rain storm. It looks like its going to get worse. 0 -
Still a lot better than where I moved from. Its 0 degrees there right now and windy. 0 -
February around here is the heart of winter. Valentines Day came after that, not before. I remember when a families wealth was measured by a full freezer and an ample supply of firewood during the winter months. 0 -
