Probably should've shot this one sooner - sat in the safe for 7 years.

About 7 years ago I bought this used Savage Axis left hand 270 win cheap. Finally picked up some ammo for it over this last summer.
Top target is Federal Power Shock 130gr soft point. Bottom is Remington Core-Lokt 130gr SP. Only fired 3 rounds of each brand of ammo. Scope is a cheap 3x9 Simmons. Distance is 25yds off my back porch using a sandbag rest. Hmm, looks to be a keeper. Didn't exactly take my time.

I just be missing something. To me those would translate to 6 to 12 inch groups at a 100 yards. That rifle should be capable of a lot better groups that that. Barrel clean, action screws tight, scope mounts tight, crown undamaged? Don't mean to be a critical pain in the a$$, but I bet you can cut those groups size by 80%. Bob 3 -
Screw loose behind the gun.I'm sure if I put it in a lead sled that would be one hole.
I don't own a lead sled.0 -
Don't sell yourself short. After more thought I figure you have a parallax problem using that scope at 25 yards. The scope is probably set to correct parallax at 100 yards. Bet if you try it at 100 the groups may improve a bit.. Bob 3 -
