Tell me about it.  I have been down with it since Sunday.  I also got to experience vomiting and diarrhea.  Highest temp was 104.

The Cherry on the top was passing 3 kidney stones :#

Feeling better today no fever so far but I feel like I have been beaten with a hot haywire and pulled through a knot hole.

Damn Sam that sounds like a fun few days. Closest I’ve gotten was last summer when, out of the blue, my gallbladder went sideways on me and the kidney stone curse kicked me in the a** at the same time. I don’t envy ya my friend. As of today I know my gallbladder ain’t there anymore and hopefully the kidney stones take a vacation for awhile.

Sam, that 104 temperature can be dangerous for us old geezers. You might want to think about going to the emergency room if it gets that high again. Take care. Hope you all get well soon.

Mine hit on Sunday also, Sam.  No intestinal distress though, thank God!  Other than the aches it's pretty much from shoulder height up.   Never spiked a temp like you did, at most a degree or two.  Get better, bro!

Question for you both Neo and Sam.  Did you get a flu shot recently?

Just curious, as I am allergic to the shots and have to be extra careful where I go during the flu seasons.

No shot here.  The one and only time I got a flu shot I was sick all winter!
My wife's also allergic to the shots but she seems to do just fine without 'em.

That really sucks. Stubborn old farts tend to avoid going to the doctor, just ask my wife. She convinced me to get a flu vaccine for the first time in ten years. The doc said it was a good idea as my Humira treatments lowers my resistance to pretty much any bug. It won't guarantee not getting the flu but should lesson the severity. I have had the flu and passed kidney stones, but not at the same time. Hope I never do! Stay hydrated and take it easy. Bob

x 10 to the google degree on you guys getting better!   Flu must be pretty rampant around here as one of the local schools closed for most of the week on account of it.

I had to take one of my brothers to the hospital for a liver biopsy on Tuesday.  I spent as little time there as possible and had them call me when he was ready to be picked up.   Problems arose for him that night at home as his liver started internal bleeding and he passed out.  Ambulance took him back where he spent another 3 days in hospital and I had to take him home this morning.

It is pretty hard to avoid going to places of the sick sometimes!!

I didn't get the shot this year.  When my temp got to 104 I got in the tub with cool water and took 2 advil.  It came down fast to 102 where it stayed for most of a day.  I tried to let the fever run its course and kill the virus but keep it around 100 and it worked good.  Basically I got started showing symptoms on Sun by Monday I was sick and stayed that way till Friday.  I had a little relapse Sat morning but by Sat afternoon I was feeling good.  Now here on Sunday I feel about 85%, no fever and I am getting an appetite back.  I didn't really eat anything but jello and drink gator aid for 3 days.  I think the vomiting was from the kidney stones and the pain.  I usually vomit from the pain when I pass a bunch at a time.

This is the 1st time I have been sick in over 20 years except for food poisoning.  The last time I got sick was in Panama and I had Dengue fever.  I never get a cold or the flu so I stopped getting shots.  The only place I could have got exposed is a restaurant on Friday.  I am not around a lot of people and that was the only time I went out last week.

The flu is going around here real bad.  Over in Durham they closed 2 schools to sterilize them due to so many people being sick.

I am just glad my Wife didn't get it, she felt bad for 2 days but no real fever and I had her stay away from me as much as possible.  I locked myself in a separate bedroom and stayed there the whole time.  I kept windows open and just hunkered down.

    :D  :D

I took the batteries out of my carbon monoxide alarm because the loud beeping was giving me a headache and making me feel sick and dizzy.  :D

Too soon? Sorry about that.  :)

Sorry you had such a horrible week Sam!  I shudder thinking about what you went through!  That kind of illness or better put, memories of that kind of illness stay with you your whole life.  I've been there a few times and now at my age and health situation think it could easily put me under.

Very glad to hear you are feeling better and on your way back to 100%!

During the 2017/2018 flu season I came down with type A influenza, and ran a high fever like you are. Sickest I have ever been since having chickenpox in my early twenties. I had never had a flu shot prior to this, because I rarely came down with anything, except for the occasional sinus infection. Needless to say I have taken the flu shot both years since, and so far have not been sick again. Last year wasn't bad around here, but this season has been pretty heavy duty. I've been around tons of sick people, and so far have stayed well,......(cross fingers.)

The last time I had anything like the flu was back in 2008 and the test showed I had  Strep throat and not the flu. Might as well called it the black death. I had all the symptoms of the flu plus some I've never felt before.

The last time I had the flu was in 1995. I went to the nurses station at Widows Creek Steam Plant where I was working one afternoon and got a flu shot. Starting the next day I was a zombie for over a week with the flu. I think I saw my granny one night in the light motioning for me.

Last flu shot I got was in 2005 so I went 15 years with no shot and no flu.

Well it caught up with me I guess but I don't plan on getting a flu shot this year.
