Where did the weekend go???
Saturday was a blur. Having my grandson here means its playtime, snack time, climb the stairs, nap......, repeat!
I don't even know what I did today. I think I've moved from my desk to my recliner a couple times....but I can't tell you one thing I've done other than snack all day long.
Larry will be home after a while, I'll fall asleep soon after that and then Monday will be here.

I retied ( took a buy out ) six years ago. honest I have forgotten what day it is as often as I remember especially mid week seems to get me more .
I never thought I would live long enough to retire or even get SS . but time fly's by and when you loose a day or two thinking it Thursday no its Friday .. OHHH
I am envious of your grand kids. maybe some day our sons will provide the distractions my wife and I have waited a long time for ,, and with luck and hopefully I will have the patients and energy to keep up

I’m going to have to start some work out routine to build up my stamina if we get any more grand babies. He’s not even 2 years old and it’s all I can do to keep up with him. His favorite thing is to grab a stick and take off walking......as far as he can go! 0 -
I had a hard time picturing a going to a Broadway show anywhere in Alabama, but apparently there is such a theater in Birmingham: The Virginia Samford Theatre. That youngster looks to have the makings of a fine decathlete. 0 -

Grandkids sure are a true blessing! For those that are still waiting for such honors I highly recommend getting yourself a high energy K-9. Keeping up with such a dog will certainly help maintain your stamina!0 -
My mother was a bit "over the top" and loved everything gaudy and showy. She used to wear the hats that typically only worn by black women at church from time to time.....and LOVED these types of shows. There are actually quite a few theaters in Birmingham that bring these shows to town. The Virginia Samford, the Dorothy Jemison Day, and the BJCC Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center are the main three....they recently opened the Lyric which was originally built in 1914 and is something to see. I saw Lewis Black there last year and it was funny....the private balcony seats are fun and not any more expensive than the main floor seating. Mother had a group of season tickets to the Broadway series at the BJCC, so we took the kids to EVERYTHING that came to town. Rent, Aida, Les Miserables, Lion King, Miss Saigon, Cats, Phantom of the Opera.......all the big shows......but also all the little shows nobody ever hears about. I hope they bring Hamilton to Birmingham some time, but I'm certain it will be a while before that happens. I'm sure there are better renditions of these things than what we are getting to see here, but some are pretty good. Fiddler on the Roof was the last thing I went to. It was at the Dorothy Jemison, which is on the Alabama School of Fine Arts campus.0 -
Wait until you turn 60. After that time goes by like in dog years. You'll think it's only been a year since something happened and it turns out to be 7 years ago. And it progressively gets worse. After I hit 70 the months fly by like the pages of a calendar in the wind. 0 -
When we were kids in SJ our parents signed us up to be members of the Footlighters performance guild and as apprentice players at the Perkins art center...
Recitals and plays and musicals and improvs and monologues and poetry readings and such...
I played minor supporting roles in on stage at small theaters and venues and churches and auditoriums from the age of 6 until I graduated highschool...
I also did stage crew and set builder and audio visual support as well...
Also was part of the formal program all through highschool.
Oliver and Annie and by by birdy and the music man and Brigadoon and Peter Pan and the works of the bard or Poe or Gilbert and Sullivan and the caine mutiny and 12 angry men and mockingbird...
It's all burned into my brain like Pavlovian my memes.

I plan on keeping dogs as long as I can......they make life so much better and I cannot imagine a day when I don't have one here. The recent addition "Miss Pissy" is pretty active. We never had anything like that around here. I think they have added a drama club to the school and they go to a few shows, but I don't think they actually put on shows themselves of any kind. I could be wrong though. I wish they did do something like that for the kids.
