Question for you HVAC folks out there. We have a trane system that is a couple years old.  This morning the unit was off and the electronic thermostat was not in.  Looked at the unit and the following error message was displayed.  We had some electrical issues with the storms yesterday so I thought maybe the unit just needed a reboot. Turned the breaker off and then back on and the unit did reboot.  It came on and started heating up to the set temperature.  I went back later and looked at the unit and it is still flashing the following error messages.  Is there something still wrong or does it just flash the error messages until they are cleared?

    I also have a Trane unit. My thermostat went blank about a week ago. My HVAC guy said he thought it would be related to a 24 volt short, in the unit. Spent about 45 minutes trying to diagnose the problem. Finally came down to the fact that the thermostat had gone bad. (Replaced.)

    I would imagine if you have an HVAC guy, you can call him, and relay the same info you have shared here, and he can point you in the right direction.

    I would also try and contact Trane to relay the error messages you see displayed. I am sure they can point you in the right direction. Good luck.

    Thanks, we have a good relationship with the company that installed the unit so I will cal them tomorrow.  Just thought I would start here in case it was something simple.  The unit is running and once I rebooted the thermostat seems to be working properly.

    Dave,
    That (Alert 1 AFC) is a reference to your air flow control board, and the second, a configuration error concerning electric aux heat. It probably came from the power glitches, and most systems will eventually reset the error codes on their own. I believe the TAM series controllers can have the codes cleared by holding the test button on the AFC board, and then removing the 230 volt signal for a couple of seconds. I'm not fully up to speed on current Trane residential equipment any longer, so your probably best off to wait for the company that did the work to take care of it,.......especially if it's working currently.

    All I have to contribute is....your HVAC unit is soooo kleeeeeeeen!!  Wow!
    That's gotta' be the cleanest unit I've ever seen!!
    It is relatively new and located in the semi finished basement so not much dirt or dust to land on it.

    Marc, Thanks for the info and advice. The unit continues to perform properly so it seems to just be an issue of clearing the codes. I called the installer and he is stopping by tomorrow. Said the error codes may need to be cleared from the thermostat.
