As a child, I had both sets of grandparents, and one set of great grandparents. I lost my great grandfather in 1974, and by the year 2002, they were all gone. I miss them all.

Here I am at about to take a "horsy" ride with my Great Grandpa Johnnie, while my younger sister waits her turn:

Note the clothesline in the photo. My great grandparents never had a clothes dryer.

my grand parents were old by the time I got enough to spend  time with them or hear there stories . dads mom passed awy before I was born .
I will be 63 next month  . wife and I would like to have grand kids but both my sons are in no hurry .
I fear I will be dead or so old I will not get to really enjoy any time with them ( if we ever have any )
never thought I would be wishing for grand kids LOL  when younger I do not recall even thinking of them
I guess human nature to want to see future generations of our family that will live on . what wonders they will get to see

My Mothers mother was gone before I came around. My Dads Grandma died right after I was born so I never really knew any of my Great Grandparents. I had 3 Grandparents until I was almost 14. My Dads parents lived pretty close to us, so I saw them all the time. My Grandpa and I were best friends. He used to break me out of grade school a couple hours early to go dove or duck hunting in the fall! All my friends called my My Grandma and Grandpa, Grandma and Grandpa like they were really theirs! My Moms Father died when I was 18. We were never too close. He Didn't live too close, I just didn't have much in common with him. Nice old guy. My Grandma was a true lady. A great cook, a great gardener, funny as hell! We got along great! Everyone loved my Grandma. My friends used to go visit her just because they enjoyed her company! We lost her in 1983. I got married in 1985 and the only Grandparent we had there was my wife's Grandmother. My son got married at 28 years old, his bride was almost 30 and they had 3 Grandparents at the wedding! My children had all 4 of their Grandparents until 2005 when my Father passed. We lost my Mom a couple months ago. My wife's parents are still going pretty strong at 92 and 87. So my children still have 2 Grandparents and know how very lucky they are...........

Only knew my paternal Grandparents. Grandma passed in 2011 and Grandpa in 2014. Grandpa was a huge influence in my life and miss him everyday.
