They used to have quite the Elmer Keith display in a corner of the Cabelas store in Boise, haven't been there in years, so not sure if it's still there.

I loved Elmer's writing. I remember shaking hands with John Taffin years ago. I suddenly blurted out "Damn I just shook the hand of a man who shook Elmer's hand". He smiled and said "Yup you did". Hell I was There is a damn good read. 0 -
Somewhere there is an album of pictures with Judys cousin when he met a lot of the 60s and 70s gun writers when they visited Williams Gun Site here in Michigan. Ted was especially proud of the one of him and Elmer Keith. Ted was one of the best stock makers of his time and did stocks for people from all over the country. I don't know if he did one for Elmer, but I am lucky to have 4 or 5 examples of his work. 0 -

I could never understand why a huge corporation like S&W could not do their own research and development. I liked Elmer Keith, but he made a career out of tooting his own horn. His 600 yard kill of that deer sure gave him a lot of grief. 0 -

His son spoke at the S&W collectors ass'n meeting in Boise some years ago...I heard(rumor) when the son died the display was removed and stuff was sold... any body else confirm that??

I used to contact S&W every couple of months to see if and when they were going to make a 4" 500 Mag. Maybe I ought to be credited for the development of that gun. 3 -
About 140 of his guns were sold in 2015 at auction . Not sure if the cabelas stuff was part of the sale .
