Will give it a try. Thank you Brother. I will also try to google a link. I am waiting on my HVAC guy to call/come by, so I do not want to start it just now.
Came by yesterday and spent about 45 min. Trying to pin down what he thought would be a "24V short in my system," that blanked out my thermostat. Turns out it was my thermostat that had gone bad. He did not have the one he needed in his van. So waiting for him to come back by this AM. About 8 different wires inside the thermostat. I do not know what they are, or the color code. Rather have someone who knows what they are doing correctly install it.
Just now got a call. He will be getting in the correct thermostat shortly from his supply guy from Bristol. Put in his order yesterday evening. He will be here around 1.
Hope it will not be too expensive for all this. Guy seems really good. Fingers crossed.

My HVAC guy just left. (Very pleased.) He spent about 45 minutes + here yesterday, (in the rain) out checking my Heat Pump connections and wiring for a 24V short. Finally came inside and diagnosed it to the thermostat.
Ordered the part yesterday through his supplier in Bristol, after 6pm. Had it here by 12:00, was at my house installing it at 1PM. Spent 1/2 hour doing so. Only charged me $120. I was extremely pleased. I was expecting something in the $3-400 range. (Considering what the Honeywell digital thermostat probably cost him, on top of his time.)

Well worth it, to have a professional do a comprehensive diagnostic check up on my entire HVAC/Heat Pump set up, (Trane.) and do a set up/install on my new thermostat. Well worth $120.
No regrets.

Agreed. My Trane unit lasted 27 years, though I used it very little for heat. 0 -
My Trane is also used very little for Heat. It is nice to have it though, if things get rediculously cold, putting it on E- heat. It is nice to have it on the moderate nights, if I do not want to get up and re-load the wood stove. Let it kick on around 2am, and carry me through.
Went about a week and a half without it, okay. (But) It has been ridiculously warm out, for this time of year. Glad to have it back, for peace of mind. (Plus) Established a good relationship with what appears to be a very good and reasonable HVAC guy. Win/win.
