"According to Section IV, Article 9 of the Constitution of Virginia, unless a legislator has committed treason, a felony, or a breach of peace, legislators are immune from arrest while the General Assembly is in session."
This is pure, un-adulterated Bull Puckey of the first order.  Just because they're in the legislature should not make them immune to the stupid laws that they so gleefully pass.    If I'm understanding that correctly it would be OK for a legislator to shoplift whatever he/she wanted so long as the cost of goods stolen did not rise to the level of a felony.  Is that correct?

The officer was aware that Hurst is a delegate, but neither the officer nor Hurst mentioned this fact at any time during the encounter. ... How would he know? Uh... the passenger told the officer

If he is a DEMOCRAT, the media will slip the story under the rug, cover up and then lie to save his political career.

Look what happened to the Gov and Lt Gov of VA if you doubt me.

If he was in his personal car, they have a “special “ license plate. Also, he is recognizable because he was an anchor at the nearby TV station.
The PD in this town are known to be tough on crime, especially DUI. I’d wager he got a call from higher up.
Had it been a regular citizen, they would have been cuffed and jailed.
In Virginia, if you have a CDL, the limit is .04.

His former TV reporter girlfriend and a cameraman were murdered a few years ago while on assignment.

Mister Hurst quit his TV news job to run for Delegate with the specific agenda to pass gun control laws.

Hurst said he was sorry. For democrats that's all that is required as long as he keeps his hand with the fingers crossed in his pocket or behind his back.

"I am very sorry this happened and take full responsibility for exercising such poor judgment. This mistake is not something I take lightly. The work before us in the General Assembly this session is more important than ever before. I look forward to continued efforts to build a better 12th District and Commonwealth of Virginia," Hurst said in a statement.

What a hot steamin' pile of BS!

Actually, the immunity from arrest is not a new thing, and yeah, it is real.  I used to work for the VA State Capitol Police.  Staute has been on the books for years.  Yes, there were times we took keys away, and there were some that we had a discussion with the Speaker of the House about.  But yes, they are immune from arrest other than felony, breach of the peace or treason.

Yep. Why (?) Should they be above the Law? Assembly in progress, or not? Screw you. Break the Law, Go to Jail, like the rest of us common peasants. You guys passed the Law's. Live by it, or pass another law.

Yeah, he waits four days to issue his apology. Regardless of the law, he was driving under the influence of alcohol and stopped under probable cause.

Hard to hear, but it sounds like he tells the officer he is on Adderall, Paxil, and Klonipin.
I didn’t look them up, but I’d say they are not to be taken with alcohol.

No Harm, no Foul. I am a VA. State Delegate with the Assembly in Session. You can't touch me.

No problem. Nothing to see here. Move along now.

If he is taking those 3 medications, it sounds like his proscribing Dr. should notify the government and he wouldn't pass a background check.

Agreed. He needs to be red flagged and his car keys confiscated.

The idiot was caught last night driving on a suspended license and possibly stealing campaign signs.

The election is today. How could anyone vote for this dipstick?

He doesn't represent the people in his district that went for 2A Sanctuary status. He votes his own heart after his girlfriend was shot & killed by an ex-coworker. I wonder if he was DUI again. You can't make this chit up.

He was only elected the first time as he was a local news reporter & on a sympathy vote after his girlfriend was killed.

Obviously a Democrat, a special race to which laws do not apply.
