Celebration of life

WE buried  my Aunt Sallie today . 95 years old and the last of 3 sisters .Funerals are usually a sad and solemn affair , everyone crying and weeping .Todays was anything but that . She lived independently up until about 6 months ago when her kids insisted on a live in helper . About 3 weeks ago she fell and fractured her back , sadly for her as for most it was a swift slide downhill from there . She had 2 kids , 7 grand kids ,17 great grands and 4 great great grandkids .Loved the beach , a good cup of coffee and a cigarette , snickers bars  and flowers  .Folks told stories and shared memories and celebrated her love of life .If there were any tears they were tears of laughter not grief . I hope that when my time comes my funeral will be as pleasant and enjoyable as hers was .Rest in peace Aunt Sally ,I love you

     So true- My mother told me you should cry when a child is brought into this world and rejoice when they meet the Lord. 
    I f you get my drift. Different point of view but she lived a hard, poor life in the Depression ect. Would make a person think.

    Sounds like your aunt got a send off she would be proud of. I don't want anybody crying over me when I kick off.

    +1 for wakes.  Everyone gets their ticket home sooner or later, you are born to die.  Mom made 93 dad 89.
    Do all you can to prevent falls for old folks - those are usually the start of a quick spiral downhill.

    Sounds like my mom’s sister. We saw her Sunday and she is in the beginning stages. However, she is bearing it with dignity, as she did with everything else in her 94 years.

    When I go it'll be a one car procession...the one they're hauling me in.
