here we have years of tradition on the line...poor ol PHIL the groundhog is doomed to be sent out to pasture  by PETA  who says that ceremony is abusive and demeaning ....jesus  did you look at PHIL...fat sleek, well fed, cared for like a GOD and only has to work one day a year ??????....has a climate controlled environment  and handled delicately by geezers staring in his face for a few minutes....OOOOOH the  HORROR ...how idiotic is the wave of political correctness  that says Phil should be thrown out in a pasture to become coyote bait ?????

    I think its a ploy......they are blaming Peta, but they secretly have had enough of that critter and are ready to replace  him with a Teddy Ruxpin asap.     I think he bites someone every year.

    They also ruined our traditional turkey shoots some years back!  No more live turkeys behind a log. Now just a picture on paper!  All the fun is gone.
