Family -
Just had my Younger Cousin bring me a load of hardwood firewood. We had coordinated it a couple three weeks ago. I have been working on my woodpile every day for the last two weeks or so. Bringing stuff in. Have about 3-4 weeks worth inside.
Not enough for the entire Winter. He brought me an excuisite selection of hardwood, and would not accept a dime from me. (This was easily a $175-$200 dollar load.) I kept trying to make him take some $$, he told me - "When I need some help, I Know you will be there, just like I am here now. I will not take a dime from you."
We stacked it right off the corner of my front porch, so I can split it and have ready access to it. Takes a huge load off me.
Good Stuff.
Yeah, he lives on Copperwood Road. Re: The Song.

Buddy, being the Awesome protector he is, was initially very confrontational. (He does not take kindly to strangers just showing up at the door.) All I had to say was "He's Okay, he's a friend," and he instantly came around to Love me/pet me mode. It is always surprising/pleasing when I see that. A very mindful Pit. Good Dog.
It was pouring rain while we unloaded it. Absoutely pouring rain out now. Supposed to be around 26° tonight. Down in the single digits, the next 4-5 nights.

Good to hear Ken! I have also been blessed with a GREAT family! From brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, and uncles, all are or were very close. Growing up in a place that takes my family back four generations might have something to do with it.
Sadly, I'm now about at the top of the generation chain. I have just one aunt and one uncle left alive. I do my best to keep the tradition going. Helping one another when needed.

Obviously, I will be there for my Cousin when/if he needs it. Good stuff. At first he was like ,"Holy Crap," about my dog. Once I told him (Buddy) it was okay, could not get/receive enough Love. When driving away, my Cousin said - "That is one Awesome Dog." Yes, he is.

I feel bad he would not accept any $$ from me whatsoever. I recognize "Sweat Equity." I do not like accepting anything for free. He got me by saying, "I am here for you, just like I know you are here for me." What can you say to that?
I wanted to give him at least $175. He would not take it. It humbles me. Takes a lot of pressure off of me. I am in his debt.

I just Hate having someone do something for me, involving Sweat Equity, and not letting me pay them for it. It Irks me. I do not like to owe anyone anything. I am (or try to be) totally independent.
I guess getting older has it's draw backs. I do not like to think of myself as incapable. I do however appreciate the help. (I would appreciate it more, if I could pay for it.)

Good post, Ken. Nothing like family. Unfortunately, I'm the patriarch of the immediate family - something I never looked forward to. I have two sons that live fairly close but they work 6 days a week and I hate to ask for help. You are blessed.
