this 1978 just popped up on a local craiglist , it's not mine , just a little bit different and thought some one might want to read about it

Had a 77 Mustang II Stallion Black 302 built fastback many many years ago. 0 -
neat old car and odd to see today
my uncle had a 76 or 77 cobra white and red
then I bought a brand new 1978 king cobra at a local dealership it was a head turner and the only one around here for miles 302 4 speed had fancier spoilers and air dams and graphics than the normal cobra , looked like this one mine was also brown tan interior but it had honey comb ? not slot mas from the factory it was 6k sticker and they would not budge on price and I was too young to understand play the game so I bought it .
and it had I would guess it had less than 200 hp but looked great ( why i bought it ) besides I had a 69 BB camaro for speed and racing ( still have the 69 Camaro the mustang I miss a little as my future wife and I had a lot of great times cruising in it and yes still have the wife .. not sure if I should have just kept the car some days LOL

they were really just glorified pintos and under powdered with all the emissions laws and company's had not got there arms around making HP and keeping it meeting the new pollution standards of the day . like a book mak to keep the mustang name going
I had early mustangs 65, 66, and a 71 mach 1 that was a fun ride, miss them dearly . the 78 I bought was just a impulse buy , brought on by several things one I just got a new job two weeks before I bought it a frined told me they just got the car at the dealership the day before and I went from less than 3.00 a hour to 12.00 a hour in my new job, and my dad was on my butt all the time about buying a new car to avoid having to work on a old one ( which I liked doing )
the 78 was good looking ( not great by a long shot ) car for the day and good attention grabber from the girls and my buddies but a piece of crap in honesty . I had it back at the dealership at least every two weeks . even fought withe service dept and dealership owner a few times and reminded my dad of that fact often .. I had it maybe a year then traded for a ford F250 4x4
it just has more sentimental memories than some of the cars I had met my wife when I had it and most all of my close buddies from that time have passed on .0 -

I ran a 1976 stock Pinto in Y Stock Automatic Y / SA at Raceway Park in Indianapolis. It would go 17.6 thru the quarter at 76 or so MPH. I won a few rounds because I got at least 2.5 lights before the competitor could leave. Many red lighted. I had a few cheater mods the inspectors didn't find. Bob Glidden ran a Pinto in Pro Stock. 0 -

SF that remined me at out local track a woman drove a pinto in the ET brackets however the most contestant winner and another the crowd hated was the "water works car " a old 4 door maverick that had been a city car and still had the city water works decals on the doors I think both cars were 19 to 20 seconds I would hate to guess how many trophys and winner checks they received ..they would be half way down the track most of the time before the other lane got th egreen light .
My 78 mustang II King cobra as stated was the biggest dog I ever owned it was all paint and spoilers air dams more show and way way less go . I would have to look it up now but I bet the 302 had less than 200 hp the 4 speed is all that helped it at the red light racing (in town ) take offs
I did a v6 swap into a pinto wagon ( one of the fancy painted panel looking ones ford did ) for a friend it was still just a pinto with a v6 mustang not a great improvement but what he wanted0
