When I was 26 my college soccer buddy George and I were driving across Mexico. Out in the country, about every 100 miles, there would be a road block. The road blocked by orange saw horses, about 30 little Mexican soldiers standing around, holding their M 16s.

All vehicles would get searched. They never heard of the 4th Amendment.

And the Mexican cops would steal stuff from you, like your Buck knife or your Playboy magazines.

So, after getting searched 3 times in one day, we decided to run the next road block. I pulled over like the other cars, slowed down to 3 mph, but just didn't stop. Kept it in 1st gear and just rolled on out.

    No Problema!

I ran another one that day, and then George ran one. It was great.

That night, George was driving, we ran another one. Mexican cops were waving kerosene lanterns at us and yelling at us, George kept rolling.

We got about 2 miles away, here came the red lights. It was an unmarked Mustang, with a magnetic red light stuck on the roof.

The Mustang passed us and did a spin/turn where it blocked the road. The headlights of the car shining right in our faces. A little Mexican soldier jumped out of the passenger seat, aimed his M16 at George and racked the slide.

The Mexican lieutenant who was driving, he was about 10 feet from me, he aimed his 1911 Colt at my head and racked the slide. That hole in the barrel looked huge, it didn't look like 45/100 of an inch, it looked about 4 inches wide. I figured we were going to die.

They didn't shoot, they made us follow us back to the road block and they searched our VW van for about 2 hours.

That was a stunt for the young, and very dumb.

up letting the dog do her business so a few minutes I will tell one of my  driving story's
I had spent the night at a GF house was on the way back into town I was doing well over a hindered not uncommon
I passed several cars then a couple cars at once just before a sweeping curve in a 45 mph zone ( due to the curve and it was a small little town /village )   so just out of the curve I passed a couple more cars . now about 3 miles from the city limits I happen to look back ( not a habit of mine )   WTH  red lights flashing right on my ass  I was in a 65 mustang all jacked up as the style and headers with just the turned down thrush mufflers )
any way I pull over up walks a highway patrol not in a good mood teles me I am under arrest get out of the car along with my paper work .  has me sit in his car and starts out you were doing well over 90 about hit me head on just after the curve and passed about 5 more cars after I  flipped around and started chasing you .. I said not even close I had plenty of room to pass and miss you if I had even got close I would have just went into the field to avoid it but no need . as for speeding my speedometer has been acting up . then  he pulls up real close behind my mustang get out takes several photos of my car
so I say I get a lot of comments on what a nice car do you like so much you wanted a photo ...
him ,NO its evidence .  (me for what   ? ) he says 65 mustangs rear bumper should not be above the hood of car we have bumper laws and yours is just way over ..   me again OH I never measured it and looked ok to me
so a speeding ticket  made it like 75 in a 45 to cut me a break ( what a great guy ) reckless operation ticket ( almost causing a accident the head on with him )  and let me let the air out of shocks measured the car again said no way ( I had the old 10 "  lift shackles on it also ) so he said you can not drive it with the violation had it towed and I had to ride with the wrecker driver and 35 dollars for that ( at a 1.60 a hour my pay at the time that hurt )
so my court day came up the judge reads off my previous list of infractions ( speeding reckless operation + a few more assorted violations  ) then the  current list  . so due to my speedometer broke it was a 10 fine for the speeding 35 for the excessive bumper height and I think like 50.00 for the reckless operation  oh had to go the traffic school and lost my licenses for 30 days .

this is just a extension of the same series    about a week after getting my license back I was on the way to the same girlfriends house  I just left work and was being careful for the first time in my life all them dam fines take a toll on a poor kid LOL same curve this time a sheriff pulls me over I had seen him and slowed down in advance   . of course I ask WTH  did I do he said its late Friday night when drunks are are out you were doing 35 mph so I thought you may be a bit drunk .    as I was telling him why I was being a good boy over his radio I hear my name then a list of of so called violations when called on the radio seemed impressive  . he looked over at me ( I was in his car ( something I had got use too )
shakes his head and laughed a bit . said well I see your point but a lot of people speed here and going 35 you could have caused a accident and I could give you a ticket for going too slow .
then he said you know David I doubt you ever hear this again in your life from a LEO  but speed up  and have a have great weekend
I had a lot of conversations with the LEO during that period of my life but most were city police and all them knew me by my first name  and 99.9 % of the time would just  say go  home now dave  or get out of town for the night  do not want to see any more tonight ( so depending on which town I was in I would drive on to the next town I  hung out in they were about 15 miles apart and I had the same relation ship in both with the locals  the movie  "american graffiti  if a lot of the characters had been rolled into one " could have been based on me easy

do not know how to edit a post so wil add in I had a ticket for loud exhaust along with the other 's the kind officer gave me
I will ad all the times I was pulled over never once was a LEO mean or rude to me
and I kept a photo album in my car with all the tickets I had acquired and news paper clippings ( they visited my house many times for complaints from neighbors but always would BS with me and say well I did my part the neighbors seen me here so see ya soon )   several years ago I found the album  but all the ink even the lettering had faded into unreadable  sheets of paper
