Teaching someone concealed carry

I have a friend from work who is a good guy.

He bow hunts, and shoots skeet and trap occasionally.

I would say he has a good head on his shoulders.

About a year ago he took the concealed carry class in Florida. The gunstore he did it at talked him into buying a Glock 43.

He has never shot the pistol & wants to get comfortable with it and with concealed carry.

if I am going to spend some range time with him is there any wisdom you would impart on someone similar?

    The 43 is the single stack version of the 26, which is an ultra compact intended for deep concealment or as a LE backup. As a dealer, I consider these to be specialty pistols intended for experienced shooters and not newbies. Lots of inexperienced shooters have issues with these ultra compacts, and I would never suggest one to a new shooter. The solution is lots of practice.

    Agreed mark christian & for what its worth I regularly carry a G43 and even in our casual conversation I told him he is going to want a larger gun. He is also a big guy, not heavy but maybe 6.3. I imagine his hands on a 43 will be quite a disadvantage.

    Gun unloaded of any live ammo, and load with snap caps.   Practice draw and presentation of weapon.

    Finger off the trigger when not ready to fire.

    I would direct toward a range with a certified instructor.  My experience is that knowledge sinks in better when coming from a professional.  No matter how squared away he is, all bets are off when the adrenaline flows.

    Just get him proficient with the weapon and instill in him that if he needs to pull the weapon he must shoot it to kill the perp.

    While I wish I could say all or even most certified instructors are a better choice, but I've been to some CWP classes that were taught by idiots so I'm sure you could do as good. (Not sure that sounds right LOL ) .
    That said the (dare I say it) NRA has a good course, I would recommend it but again a lot depends on the instructor.
