I was looking at a Marlin 1894 in .44 mag in a pawn shop a couple of years ago that had an add-on sling swivel on the magazine tube, the tube was able to spin around some, I told the (inexperienced) clerk that I was afraid that the tube was loose and maybe it couldn't be fixed, his response was "how about $150. and you worry about it". I couldn't get to my money clip fast enough.

The mag tubes on this rifle are pinned so a little movement is normal.

On GunBroker, I recently won an auction for two full boxes of .38 ACP ammo (Win. & Rem.) for one cent. Yes, I was the only bidder. The shipping of $15 made it come out to $7.50 per box but still a good deal.

Yeah, well I just bought 6 XL Snickers bars, at the grocery store for $2.35 on closeout. (?)

    Pretty damn happy about that.

A few years ago, on the advise of an experienced auction guy, I put up one of my fine custom made flintlock hunting rifles on the GB block for a week with a penny start.

The rifle sold with a winning bid of 400 dollars. The parts alone that I had into it cost me 850 dollars.😫

So....not all of my experiences here have been profitable.

Winchester Model 64, 30 WCF marked, for $35. That's what I loaned a guy on it. He never came back for it, and I found out later that he was killed in a wreck about two years after he borrowed the $$. This was back in the mid 70s, and I couldn't find his family. I kept it for about 10 years and sold it to a collector for $800.

Won a side bet the other night Kentucky against South Carolina in Basketball. Guy gave me 12 points and SC. SC didn't even need it ..their poor team beat #10 Kentucky without any points my way.

A Cop buddy of mine stopped by my office and asked if I would be interested in his 4" Nickel Colt Python for 450.00. Without a second of hesitation I told him I would stop by his house on my way home that evening.....when I arrived I asked why he was selling it and he said some family medical issues and his department was now mandating the use of a 9mm semi-auto.

I looked it over and started to count out the cash and he went in the back room to find a second set of stocks he had for it. When he came back he had a Nickel Colt Detective Special with him and asked if I want it also. I asked how much and he said just give me 500 for both. I offered him more but he said it was fine.....

Now this occurred in 1994......In 2006 the officer retired as the Chief of Police in the town I lived in......he got the Python back as a retirement gift from a group of us....He passed away in 2015, his son has it now.... I still have the DS....
