My new Bird Dog!
Wife and I were out walking the property today when I spied a Pheasant, about that time her Bichon Frise/Terrier mix (about 20 pounds and damn near drags his chest on the ground) spied it too!
First he froze and up with one front paw like a pointer then off like a shot, took us damn near forever to find that damn midget dog.
Next door to us is a bird shooting preserve this one must have gotten off light and found sanctuary over on our place, with the Yotes around now I doubt it will last long. Same reason I figure were going to have to get her pup a body guard dog to protect it out there.
Now that we caught up with him it was funny.

Glad you caught up with him, but if you dont have a dog you can let off the leash it is hardly worth having. Im sure he had a ball.

Just following his basic instinct. I bet he was proud of himself.

There's nothing as satisfying as watching a good dog work.😁 I had some friends that took a bull dog pheasant hunting and he did pretty well. At least there were four more feet beating the brush.

My opinion of a bird dog. Brutus v.d.hellen Flächen

used to have a boston terrier who would go crazy if deer/turkey got in front yard, she would take after em like the were after her food bowl, chase em just to end of yard or edge of woods then just strut back up to house and lay on porch and wait for next one. I think she thought she was a great dane...... 0 -
I agree, I trained dogs for years and wirehairs were one of my favorites. 0
